šŸˆ McCarron continues to mature, impress

A year ago, Alabama coach Nick Saban was still trying to identify his quarterback. Now, he’s trying to protect him. AJ McCarron led the Crimson Tide to the national title as a sophomore, but his development since then has impressed Saban.

ā€œWe ran a draw in the scrimmage and Cyrus (Kouandjio, the Tide’s left tackle) missed his block,ā€ Saban told reporters after Tuesday’s practice. ā€œAJ said, ā€˜If you make that block, that would have been out the gate.ā€™ā€
It says two things about McCarron. First, more than a play breaking down, he knew instantly why it broke down. Second, he didn’t hesitate to challenge a teammate. This is his offense. That wasn’t the case in the early part of the 2011 season.

ā€œI guess last year, I was the young one looking up to the older guys, and now I have some younger guys and I’m the older guy,ā€ the junior said when asked about the difference in communication with his receiver corps. Actually, it has expanded throughout the offense.
