I totally see your point, I was just giving a different perspective, I think the prospects of playing in the NFL and making millions is what motivates the kids in little league, etc. It's a game when you are young, but as the years go by, the injuries get worse and more of a job it becomes. Dealing with camp, keeping yourself in shape, the schedule of the season, its a job at the end of the day.
I think they all want to be there, they just want whats right in their own minds. example, look at all the guys coming outta college right now getting paid big money and never played a single down, in fact some will be hurt in camp and not play a down this year. On the flip side, you have guys like LT and others who are proven guys who won't get paid the kinda money the other guys will. Yes, LT's playing days are getting shorter. It kills me that these guys are getting paid the money they are without playing a down in the NFL, some will be busts and only costs a team a few million, others will go down like Leaf, Russell, and the countless others who have made millions.
The love of the game is what keeps a certain QB from Mississippi on the edge of retirement year in and year out, but folks trash him saying he is a drama queen...should he get paid $15m to play or play for free seeing as how he loves the game? in 5-10 years he will be a walking zombie with all his injuries and he will still have great memories about the game and have all the pain that goes along with it.
