šŸˆ Marquis Maze:Stop putting all the blame on the offensive & defensive coordinators

Love Marquis Maze. He played with an intensity that was contagious. He is right on a few accounts this is a different age of players and that the coaches cant catch the ball or make a tackle. Players these days are a lot softer and I blame several things for this.. some of it is just the society that they have grown up with but some of it falls at the feet of the "brainiacs" who decided that the best way to teach players to tackle more safely by banning the opportunity to practice it. Bad tackling and soft players is the result of these decisions. Don't worry I spend lots of time at high school games.. it is going to keep getting worse.

As far as not playing the coordinators, I disagree when the plan and the calls are poor.. this is their responsibility fully. I get aggrivated with Golding sometimes and I think he is an average X's and O's DC but he is a dynamic recruiter and pays for himself in that way. Bill Obrien has impressed me in the past as a brilliant offensive mind.. especially at new England and Penn State but he is either not invested in this opportunity or not mixing with the team well. There is just something that feels disjointed with his play calling and I am very disappointed in the lack of development with our OL recruits.. remember

Tommy Brockmeyer
James Brockmeyer
JC Latham
Javon Cowen
Damian George
Amari Kight
Pierce Quick

All these guys were well thought of when they came out. Many were the number 1 recruit at their position coming out and we arent getting many snaps out of them besides for Cowan.

So again, I agree with some of Maze's thoughts but the bad game planning, poor play calls and lack of development falls on the OC especially considering that he isn't a recruiting that I know of.

BoB is recruiting.

The OL busts should be on Kyle Flood or whoever recruited Kight, Quick, Tommy Brown, etc.

George played after the injury and Cohen has been pretty good all year.

I have no idea what's up with JC Latham. Tommy Brockermeyer was a 5* but was not big enough to play OT in the SEC as a freshman. Probably should not be a 5* if you can't physically play the position off the bat.

At this point many of the highly recruited players that aren't playing are headed for a redshirt. It's not that they can't play, but looking at depth and recruiting tells Saban that redshirting is the best for the team.

Maze is correct. People are blaming the coordinators for "failing" when it's the players who aren't executing. If you ever watch Saban's "play of the game" diagnosis, you get an idea of how complicated the offense and defense is. NFL coaches like Alabama players because they come out of a system that is similar to the pros. It isn't easy with all the checks that go on based on alignment and movement. One breakdown can mean a disaster.

I'm not saying that BO'B and PG aren't infallable. However, Saban has the headset on and can overrule any play call.

Did anyone see the player grades? The youtube video wont load on here, but if you want to see it, go to youtube .com.

It is on the Alabama football channel and the title of the video is "Alabama Football Player Grades Against LSU Tigers / SEC News".
The offensive grades are very low, but defensive grades are better, not great

Which is it? We either have players that aren't very talented or can't learn the complicated schemes. Or coaches who aren't very good teachers
of those schemes.

Whose job is it to get the guys on the field ready to play? Whose job is it to have them understand how to line up? You're putting the product on the field, so how on Earth can you not be held accountable? Missed tackles, ALL on the players. Missed assignments, on the players. Mis-aligned, coaches. Understanding the calls, coaches. Audibles, coaches. These coordinators are millionaires for their ability to make offenses and defenses work, so they should carry a lot of the blame because it's their job to make sure the players even know what to do. Players have accountability, but the product on the field is directly correlated with coaching. If you're getting all this time in the Spring, Summer, and Fall to practice and watch film, and yet you still have a guy out there that can't get right, whose fault is it for trotting him out there?

Its not recruiting busts its that they aren't developing which is on the former and current OL coach and OC primarily. I thought George played pretty well after the first few snaps and Cohen has been OK and guard so far.

Who is BOB recruiting? I haven't seen him or Marrone on the road or their names attached to key players.. but I may have just missed it.

George played VERY well outside of the fumble by Bryce due to his guy beating him.

Those grades aren’t from the coaches. It comes from Pro Football Focus (PFF). Not sure how they can accurately grade without knowing what was called.

Last year isn’t this year.
It’s not? Oops, I learn something every day.

I was speaking to credibility… is it not the same guys running it this year as last year? And the same algorithms? Mullen led an 8-4 team that lost to a bad LSU team at home. Closed the year 0-3. I’m still scratching my head at that selection. Fickell, Chadwell, hell Indiana’s coach for that matter. I could name several that should have been ahead of Mullen. They black box for grading out player performance is likely better or more transparent, but award winners like that remove some credibility.

But a lot on here...point to.....
Bama is tops because of the history of development of players....
A lot of top quality players....alot of good development....
Players stick around...

Coaching or players....
BEAR always said..."i can take mine and beat yours....or...take yours and beat-mine" .... or credited with saying anyway...
