šŸ€ GAME THREAD March Madness 2026: Round 2 starts at Noon, Saturday. (A&M, TX, Vandy, and UArk play tonight)

Statistically, I'm sure we're similar. I've watched them a lot this season and they will absolutely physically push us off the 3-point line. Jaylen Petty is going to be a tough matchup for us. Christian Anderson is a really quick guard that can facilitate and great at finding holes in the D.
In my cursory view I see the key being the same thing we saw last night; same plan against teams like UT. They have to "touch the paint" on the offensive end.

FWIW, it's the first game I've noticed in the tourney that opened as a PK.

Reed for UConn
There's double-doubles. Then there's this. 31 PTS / 27 REB for a double double...geez. There were three yesterday and the closest one to that was Ejiofor with a 14 / 11.

(Philon had a day, 28/7/8. That's pushing the triple mark. BUT, Oweh yesterday? He had a HELL of a day with a 31/8/7.)

IF ISU has lost Jeffries (?) ... I would not count UK out. That loss probably drops the spready by five at the 'books.

I concur. We saw it yesterday when Alabama was just settling for low quality shots from beyond the arc and Hofstra went on a run. Alabama spaced the floor way more and swung the ball better, which inevitably produced open shots and the 3 dropping. Wrightsell needs to watch tape of how many times he hits a wide open 3 when his feet are set, compared to him trying these fade away jumpers in transition. Maddening at times. Sherrell is also guilty of bricking transition 3s. Would rather they swing it.

Texas Tech will absolutely throw up shots regardless if they're well defended or not. I think that gives us a a good chance. For once, it'd be nice if a team had an off day vs shooting wise. Granted, some of that has to do with how poor of on ball D we play.

I think the thing that worries me most is their versatility on offense. Statistically, they are eerily similar to us. But they can switch it up really fast and become a bruising type offense. Alabama doesn't really have that luxury due to limitations inside. Tech was able to use that and get big wins at Arizona and Iowa State.

I still find Avery funny. Just a few minutes ago:

"When I was at Alabama, the football team ... "

He went on to compare Bama's special teams to UCONN's inbound plays under Hurley.

A few minutes later...

"When I was at Bama and had Sexton, and Jones, and Reese, and Petty..."
