Can you imagine Mike Leach at Arkansas?

One person, Douglas Parker of Fayetteville, Ark., would like to see it happen.

On Monday afternoon, Parker started a petition addressed to Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long to bring the current Washington State coach to Arkansas. Of course, some Razorbacks fans aren’t happy with Bret Bielema after Arkansas dropped to 1-1 with a rough loss to TCU last Saturday. Given the recent mediocrity with the Razorbacks’ program, Bielema could be coaching for his job soon.

You can check out the Change.org petition here. As part of the petition, Leach’s career accomplishments are featured, including his 10 consecutive winning seasons and 9 straight bowl appearances.

ā€œMike Leach is the head football coach that Arkansas fans not only need, but that they deserve,ā€ reads a note included within the petition. ā€œDo the right thing and help bring the Hogs back to national prominence.ā€

Who knows what’s going to happen to Bielema, but petitions like this definitely create conversation. Bielema is 26-27 at Arkansas, and the Razorbacks have never won more than eight games in a season under him.

Leach, meanwhile, is 115-77 in his career as a head coach, which includes stops at Texas Tech and Washington State. He’s 31-34 with the Cougars, including 2-0 this year.

The internet can be an interesting place, for sure.

Can't blame the Hoggett's on this one. They have been patient and I don't think that Bielema is going to get within shouting distance of what he accomplished at Wisconsin. I thought bringing new OC Enos in would help the razorbacks to be a little more balanced but they have lost what little offensive identity and mojo they had going for them. The defensive line has been terrible and now the OL is just about as bad. Losing OL coach Sam Pittman to Georgia didn't help.

I don't either and wonder why? He has the same mentality of the majority of his fan base and I thought he'd be a perfect fit. It has to fall on his (lack of) ability to recruit / coach against the "Big Boy" teams in his region.

In the West, you do have to recruit to compete, but he doesn't seem to be doing much with player development either. They like him, but not at the expense of having a losing SEC record in year 5.

It would add a little flavor to the SEC
..as about as much flavor as hominy.

FWIW, this guy has coached a total of four games against SEC teams. He's 2-1 versus Ole Miss, 0-1 vs Bama. Now, Leach might give them another shot at a run like they had under Petrino (where they didn't win anything, had no defense to speak of, and still found themselves losing to the top dogs in the conference.)

I like the guy.....
Do well in the SEC....dont know....but Bielemia ain't cutting it...
He would be better then that....make Media days better for sure...
Bielemia needs a signature win this year....got no O AU at home....but wont happen...but.....then AU fires Gus....Ark fires Bielemia...Gus goes to Ark...AU hires Stoops......

^^ This, Arky put up stats against cupcakes and the A&M's and Kentucky's of the SEC but everytime they went head-to-head with the typical good defenses they were exposed. Just like Leach's teams would be.
