🏈 LSU's wide receiver tandem has Alabama's attention; Les Miles says 'we like the matchup'

Is Saban leading Les down the primrose path again. Les gave Saban some additional Bulletin Board material here. Les should have said we are facing the best CBs in the CF today. I wonder if our guys can get open! I think he played right into it. We will see.

I hate the matchup. I dont think we have a corner that can cover Beckham one-on-one at all. Gonna have to disguise coverages and do some combo coverages and we GOT to put pressure on the statue of Mettenberger back there.

They'll get their yards.

I do like the number of defensive backfield guys we've played this year...sets up well for a constant rotation.

IF Mett follows the same MO he's had all year he's going to focus on one of those two guys and will throw into double coverage.

AGREED!! This will lead to a pick or two from Ha Ha or Landon!! We do need to put some pressure on Mett to make him uncomfortable and get him off of his spot. QBs don't like it when the have to readjust their feet to make a throw. Some get lazy and put too much trust in their arm and it gets them in trouble. I believe Mett falls in that category!!

I'll be honest, Landry and Beckham scare the hell out of me. They're physical, they have great hands, and good route runners. I think Deon can hold his own on whomever he gets matched up with, but that will leave a very inexperienced DB on the other. JMO but I think a guy like Eddie Jackson matches up better with them than any of our other DB's because of his size and physicality.

This next one surprised me.

More interesting stats for LSU. RB Jeremy Hill has 270 career carries at LSU. 24 touchdowns. Zero fumbles lost.
— D.C. Shocked me as well considering LSU's turnover margin this season. We've groaned at our fumbles this year and they've got almost twice the number we have: 4 to 7 lost. (3 to 7 on INT's.)

Lost is the key there...they've put the ball on the ground 12 times this season and recovered five of them.

Some other good ones.

Mettenberger has been good on 56-of-89 for 1,034 yards and 9 TDs & 1 INT when they go 3-Wide or 4-Wide with the tight end flexed out.

Which begs the question.

If he's been so successful in those areas why didn't they use that set when playing UF? Hell, he had more completions against UGA than attempts versus the Gators.

I'm very inclined to believe they feared the INT's.
