šŸˆ LSU football: "The Holding Club."

What I find ironic, all the tin foil hat wearing LSU corndogs have griped for years about the Alabama bias with the SEC/officiating. Look who is getting the benefit of all the no calls now. Wonder if moving the SEC offices would benefit LSU now.

That doesn't, OP.

If you look at a tape of any game, any team, you'll find penalties that weren't called, were questionable calls, or should be called. We can count the number of penalties called on each team, but there's no way to determine how many penalties should be called. To do that we would need a referee to sit down and watch every play, every position to look for penalties. Ain't gonna happen.

@OldPlayer I think you're missing the point here: it's been a mantra of the LSU faithful, and others, to claim SEC bias towards Bama (in a number of ways) over the years. That extends to officiating, "Bama is always holding." Auburn fans have been just as ravenous in this regard and I find it entertaining, as well as deliciously ironic, to find them pointing fingers at each other.

If we were to take the time and look around I'm willing to bet we'd find LSU fans already claiming it'll be the officiating that will enable Bama to win the game. Hell, it was on national TV last season, before the game even kicked off, about a game that Bama wasn't even playing in but the officials were already setting Bama up for the win with the targeting suspension.

(BTW, when we get to next weekend watch their right tackle.)

Jennings ABUSED him last year in BR!!! I look for he and T Lewis to do more of the same or be held countless times!!!!
@UAgrad93 .... I believe that is the key to this game... our OLBs have to dominate the way they are capable of..... i think they have picked up the Pace the last couple of games..... no way burrow has time to sit back in pocket.....he does not read quickly ..... my thought

@Destiny's Child made a comment yesterday I was planning on going back to and what you're saying here is in the same vein. What I find a little crazy today is how it fits going into LSU.

It started when people were asking about Barmore if I recall correctly. I mentioned we were seeing him for specific packages early on and the staff was working with him to get assignment football down. We started seeing it featured more with UofSC, then Ole Miss (both games where we also saw containment lost for run fits) and then saw it featured prominently against A&M where more than half of the snaps saw the defense in nickel rabbit or dime rabbit. You mentioning "picking up the pace" fits. It's due to the personnel grouping: the rabbits.

What's a coincidence (or Saban planning on the future, your choice) is the defense we saw Auburn field against LSU. They "debuted" what appeared to be a three man front (3-1-7) but were using ends where Bama is using OLB's: the same back end approach though.

The problem with that—as we've seen a few times this season—comes down to gap responsibility and run fits. The inexperience shows its ugly head here because the gaps change so quickly.

Every conference has its favorable bias. I've always found it interesting that the bias is always claimed by the losing team. The ACC has a bias towards Clemson. The B1G has a bias towards tOSU. The Big12 has a bias towards Oklahoma. The Pac12 has a bias towards...well maybe not in the Pac12 because nobody wins.

I think on the non holding calls we get screwed more than anybody. How is it possible that we have put 15 top defensive linemen in the league over the last decade and have the least number of holding calls called against our opponents. in 2015, we led the league in sacks, pressures, tackles for loss put that whole d line in the NFL and somehow less than 5 holding calls on our opponents for the entire season... not saying we don’t hold because everyone does but I think because the refs think we are soo good that I think it keeps them from blowing the whistle every time when we get held
