According to San Francisco Chronicle reporter Ron Kroichick, Louisiana Tech head coach Sonny Dykes will be Tedford's successor:

Source confirms that #Cal will hire Sonny Dykes. School already has held a team meeting.


I know this isn't too exciting but thought it was an interesting move. Tech had a great year, but it's no PAC 12. His air raid offense worked great but their defense sucked. Hopefully he can fix this at Cal, and be able to make the program more competitive.

The offense they ran this year was Tony Franklin's scheme. Dykes gave Franklin a couple of years to get his system up and running versus Auburn firing him after a few months. But that's another subject in itself.

As to Franklin, and this is changing the subject a bit, if I were Mark Stoops I'd be looking to hire Franklin as my offensive coordinator. There are a lot of ties between the Stoops and Leach and Franklin's system is patterned off of what Mike Leach and Hal Mumme put together years ago.
