Devin White, 2016 running back from North Webster High School in Springhill, La., received a much desired scholarship offer on Monday from the University of Alabama.

"It was one of the best camps I went to this summer," said White. "I got there on Sunday morning around 10:30. We toured the school when we first got there. We saw the players' locker room and new lounge. It was the first thing we did.

"It was really nice. Those were some of the best facilities I've been to. I was really impressed with the players' lounge. It just opened on Friday. We were one of the first ones to go in there. They had pool tables, three huge TVs with game systems and an arcade room. They had motorcycle games you can sit on to play. It was cool."

White had offers from LSU and Louisiana-Lafayette prior to this week. He earned his offer from the Alabama coaching staff with his performance.

"I worked out the whole Sunday camp and the morning session today," he said. "It was good. Coach Burns taught me a lot of stuff I needed to know to become an elite running back. I was really thankful for the opportunity to work with him.

"I wasn't very used to some of the drills. He told me I would look a whole lot better the next day. He said he can see a lot of potential in me and I have the will to work. He said he can tell I will have a bright future. That's a good thing to hear.

"Coach Saban offered me today. He told me why he is recruiting me. He said they are interested in me. He said he watched me during the running back drills. He said I don't show that I am tired. I am always working hard. He said he wants me to be at their school. They like big running backs who can run and have size on them."

Alabama has been a favorite of White's for a long time.

"That was nice to get the offer," he said. "They have been in my top three ever since I started playing football. I achieved that goal. My goals are really high. I am really excited. I have more goals to reach.

What stands out the most of the Crimson Tide?

"The No. 1 thing I like is they produce a lot of running backs to the NFL," White said. "I want to take my game to the next level. Coach Burns was telling me what I need to know, and not just what I want to hear. He was molding me into a great player. Most coaches tell me I am a top player and can get by with certain things. He was telling me I have to do everything right. He showed me how the next level is going to be. I really liked that too."
