Sad to hear.

M*A*S*H was my dad's favorite show. He watched every episode when it was on TV...every time. I remember when it came on after the 10:00 news on NBC back in the 80s. I used to watch it with him. It's still a great show.

I always thought Loretta Swit set a solid example for young girls to be strong-willed, independent, while carrying herself in a dignified manner. Swit took what Kellerman started and really brought a complete character arc to Hot Lips, er...Major Houlihan.

Swit was quite good in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever as well.

She was one of the best at playing the role. Thanks goodness CBS wouldn't let her go to Cagney and Lacey.

There are some actors/celebrities who pass and you say, “Aww, that’s sad.” Then there are others who pass and you say, “Damn, I really liked watching her/him in ‘_______.’ They made the role what it was.”

Off the top of my head I think there are only four remaining (main cast members.)

Alda, Farrell, Burghoff, and Farr.

Out of everything associated with M*A*S*H* I think I miss Robert Altman the most. (Short Cuts is arguably his best work from my perspective.)

I believe she and A. Alda are the only two actors to appear in every season. She was a good actress in this series.
