I'll tell you what. This is JHMO, but Johnson deserves better! That guy can just flat out coach! SMU got a steal there, but I would have loved to see Johnson get his due and go to GaTech or Nebraska.

Selecting coaches is a funny business. A number of people on this board, other than me, would have said that Paul Johnson was tailor-made for either Nebraska or Arkansas and the guy gets ZERO attention from them. Pretty amazing.

I would have thought he was going some where bigger myself. I will give PJ credit, I think he's a good coach. Now that being said look where he is/was coaching at, but SMU I don't see this as being an upgrade from Navy. Money is the only reason for him to be moving I'd guess.

Johnson is probably going to sit in a holding pattern for for another day or so and see what happens with Tuberville. Apparently, he would be Dye's choice (though I'm not sure how much, if any, say-so Dye would have).

Johnson is a heck of a football coach, but he would face a couple of challenges in the SEC that he has never had to really contend with before. Personally, I think Nebraska is dumb for not hiring him, especially if Pelini really turns out to be their man.
