| FTBL Looking at future schedules for OU and TX for 2024.

OU has Tulane and Temple for the OOC opponents: they need two more. The SEC requires P5, who do they ask?

Texas has filled out their schedule. They're on the road against Michigan.

While the expansion of the CFP makes it "easier" to get into the playoffs, a team's strength of schedule will play a big part in making the top four. Having to play 8-9 SEC teams helps, a stronger OOC schedule will help to make up for any stumbles.

Curious that OU was required to remove their SEC OOC opponents as soon as the announcement was made that they and Texas were joining the SEC. Texas never was required to do that and, as a matter of fact, Florida is still on their future OOC schedule in 2030-31.

The requirement was for the near term so that schedules could be created. The SEC couldn’t tell TX and OU to change, only schools in the conference at the time. TX can still play Florida in 2030-31but they’ll need to fill in other schools as OOC replacements. It’s far enough out that there’s plenty of time to find a replacement.

OU WAS required, BY THE SEC, to drop them. Short term, long term, any term. Texas was not required to do so. That is my point.
