🏈 Looking ahead at Arkansas: Here's a breakdown (as in serious football talk) of their running game..

Thanks for that link. Good, x's and o's football talk right there. There is a lot about the footwork of the offensive linemen for Arky this is boggling my mind. I played that position in junior high, before moving around to other positions in high school. It looks like that OL still doesn't know how to pick up stunting defensive players. This has been the beign of their existence the past few years. This is an opportunity, next Saturday, for Hightower to make up for the game he got hurt in last year. He could have a big day, as will Robert Lester, I predict.

Stinson and Harris is who I see having big games...sort of expect Barron to get a pick as well.

Didn't they return most of their OL from last year? Looked like a lot of blown assignments.

They lost Petrus who was the best lineman they had last season. I don't believe he allowed a sack last season from his guard position.

Their biggest loses come up the middle on defense: Malcolm Sheppard and Adrian Davis off the DL, and Wendall Davis in their LB'ing corps. It's those loses that lead me to believe we'll run up the gut all day long.

We had some trouble with the middle of their D-line last year for sure. They have some pretty good athletes in their secondary, which would also dictate running inside.

Looks like a field day on both sides of the line. Blown assignments against ULM at home doesn't bode well against a experienced SEC pass rush.

Also feel alot better pounding the running game on them with Sheppard now gone.

their o-line looks lazy and slow. their running back looks ready to go down as soon as he gets to the line of scrimmage. overall not impressive... of course that's just a few clips, too. i haven't watched them play a game yet.

I saw some of their game against ULM on cbssports replay. That game was alot closer than the score indicated. I know Mallett had 400+ yards passing but he was still slinging it LATE in the 4th quarter ( like 3 minutes to go). I expect with MArcel back, he gets a double team and it frees up Stinson, Harris, or Upshaw to have huge games. A rushed Mallett means errant throws and plenty of chances for picks. Just insert your favorite DB to be that person getting the pick.

Mallet= Snead

Snead was hyped as a Heisman candidate and saw himself as the second coming of Brett Favre. I thought of Snead as soon as they started hyping Mallett as a Heisman candidate preseason. Sure he threw for alot of yards and TDs last year, but how did he do against ranked teams with good defenses?

Malcolm Sheppard and Adrian Davis were non factors last year you guys had trouble running up the gut on a true freshman DD Jones. remember that name cause after the game next week you will have nightmares about him

Right now, my gut says this game gets ugly. To the same degree as last year? I doubt it. But, I'll be shocked if you are within single digits at the end of the game. Personally, I think we'll beat Arkansas by 14+...

I kind of have the same feeling. I can see the game being close, maybe even going back in forth for the first half and even a bit into the 3rd quarter but I think we'll start pulling away at that point.

I'd like to see us with the first possession, go five wide, and score in a few minutes. It'll take the breath out of that crowd in a heart beat...think 2002 and Shaud.
