🏈 little eleven says no to expansion

The BCS should require ND to join a conference if they want to be considered for any BCS bowls or BCS title game.

The BCS realizes, that while that sounds good and tough minded and all, this just will not work. And could subject the BCS to outright irrelevance should 1) they place the demand on ND and 2) ND refuse and 3) the BCS kick ND out of the BCS process AND 4) one year soon after ND goes undefeated and is ranked #1 but cannot play in the BCS title game or any other BCS bowl game.

Imagine the BCS trying to sell the idea that a game between the #2 and #3 teams is for the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP with an undefeated #1 Notre Dame relaxing in a bowl game in Hawaii against some WAC team because ND was not allowed to play.

The BCS system would fall apart before sunrise the day after the selection process were that to happen.

Here's one of those comments you read and are left wondering, "did he really say that?"

"The issue has come up with our football coaches a couple times -- with the extra week and if we did expand, would we be more competitive?" Delany said. "I would say in some years they might be right. But has it enhanced the competitiveness of the ACC in football? Has it enhanced the competitiveness of the WAC? I don't know.

While the ACC has been down, football wise, the last few years can anyone question their expansion hasn't made that conference more competitive? Geez, Boston College alone answers that question.

Not that I'm taking up for Delany, whoever he is, but the ACC Championship game is god awful in attendance. Maybe that's where he was getting at? The extra game itself sure hasn't created much excitement for the conference, but I agree it has made some teams more relevant.

It would be nice if the NCAA forced all major BCS conferences to expand to 12 teams and require a championship game.

While I understand your point, the problem with attendance at the ACC Championship isn't due to competitive situations. It's all location.

Put that game in Charlotte, hell even ATL, and those numbers change immediately.

Yeah you're right, having it in Charlotte is a horrible decision. Besides that factor, I don't see what he's getting at mentioning the ACC.

I'm sure you meant "having it in Tampa..."

The game, despite the score, wasn't that bad of a football game last year.
