🏈 LINK: Urban Meyer stepping down as Head coach at FL???

More and more gator fans are bringing up the heart and even said Meyer had a mild heart attack during the season. Prayers for him whatever the reason and I hope his health improves as a result. Also hope the Gators find a good replacement for their fans sake.

The college football fan in me hopes everything is OK and can appreciate that health and family come first. I've obviously got a soft spot for Urban after what he did here at Utah.

The conspiracy theorist in me, however, isn't surprised even a little bit by this move. He's an amazing coach and motivator, but seeing how bare he left the cupboard when he bolted for Florida, I don't think he can recruit worth a lick. His MO is to come in somewhere that is primed for success (i.e. Bowling Green, Utah, Florida), kick them up a notch to achieve it, then leave before his recruits really start to play. I had a strong suspicion that he'd be gone once Tebow was done, and since the ND job wasn't in good enough shape right now for him to take, he'll just take a break until a better opportunity presents itself.

My prediction is Bob Stoops to Florida with Gary Patterson (TCU) filling in as Stoops' replacement at Oklahoma. Either that or Chucky (Gruden) giving the college game a shot.

I always thought he was a bit scummy, but I hate to see him go out like this. He is a top 3 CFB coach and I hope he comes back.

Elbatider that's a great link. I think there's probably a lot more to that story than SI was allowed to let on. You have to respect the man for stepping down from a top 3 program; considering Urban's inner drive, it's probably a lot more serious than anyone of us would think. I feel bad for him but he's doing the right thing. You can only wish him well and a speedy recovery.

As far as Stoops going to Florida ... if he ever does, now would be the time (even though he just purchased a ginormous house just outside Norman recently). It would be great for the Conference, and seeing Saban and Stoops going head-to-head would be just phenomenal.
