šŸˆ Lewis and Miller...

After missing 13 weeks? I seriously doubt either are in game shape.

Upper body injuries let them keep their cardio up and Miller has been practicing for a few weeks. Even situational plays will be a blessing with our edge pass rush.

Coach Saban is playing psychological war games with these players. He obviously wants the barn to consider the possibilities and from where we were to where we are with these kids I'll be more than happy to play along.

Their cardio is likely unaffected. I know y'all remember the zero gravity machine and what it can offer to players with leg injuries. I have no doubt these boys have been doing their cardio to some extent. Sure, it's a lot different than game speed and exerting that kind of effort and energy, but I am sure they have been running and biking.

You really think he'll go in the first round? I see him a step below Collins, Jackson, Clinton-Dix and Barron - and only two of those were first rounders. I know each draft is different, best player available, best fit for team, etc., but in my amateur mind I was seeing him as late second or into the third round.

Depends on secondary depth in the draft... And just as importantly how banged up he is when he comes out... For realz

@TerryP What are your thoughts on how much game time each of these players are going to receive Saturday?

This will be long so you've been forewarned.

First of all, I don't know if one, two, three, or all four will play. Based on conversations I believe there's a good chance we'll see one, or more, play Saturday. I'll get into that in a few paragraphs.

You asked about how much game time. I don't know mainly because of what I've bolded in 334's post. It's impossible for them to be in game shape. If we look at Lewis and Miller we have to take into account how much of the upper body is used in cardio specifically--not to mention other drills.

I'm confident when I say people around the 'net saying who will play and who won't play DO NOT have the final information. They very well may have a good friend around the program or a word a lot love to use, "a source." I've got a handful of friends around there. More than one said "Wilson had a good practice today." That doesn't mean he's ready. Those that are saying "so and so will play" very well may have a "source." We may wake up Sunday morning and see they were right.

Two words that are the bottom line here. Medical clearance.

All that said it does not change this opinion. There is no one here, or for that matter on BOL or TI, that can say one way or another and it be a definitive statement. We're just going to have to wait and see.

If we see one or more I'll be impressed. Lewis and Miller's injuries could have easily been season ending. Some speculated so.

@BamaFan334 I'm curious about one thing here. You mentioned the zero gravity machine. I don't get why you thought that'd come into play. I'm not in the PT field, but I've always been under the impression it was meant more for knee rehabilitation versus a screw in the foot (Mack) or shoulder/elbow injuries, etc.

My take on this is that the zero gravity was mentioned as an advanced technique to bring along leg rehab, and that they certainly have benefited from advance rehab techniques for an elbow and pec. He mentioned that they'd probably been doing higher impact lower body cardio. I don't think he meant running on the 0G would help their upper body.

Happy Thanksgiving, y'all.

Those techniques and equipment that's been used is something that crossed my mind more than a few times lately.

It's such an odd story, Tim. I'm seeing Physical Therapist tweet, Dr. Cain tweet, both appearing in other pictures posted on the 'net and all of them are hinting towards health and recovery themes. (Heck of an advertising bit for the Doc...as if he needs it.) Contrast that with hearing how the media will leave a practice and they'll bring out a dozen black shirts for practice. It's as if we're witnessing football's version of "The Prestige."
