🏈 Lewis and Miller...

If you're right, I will HAPPILY be wrong. He literally just got into a boot last week, though. I just dont see how you go from having to wear a cast to being one week in a boot and suddenly you're playing again. But like I said, I'll be happy to be wrong.
Guys it was a 4-6 week injury for a normal human. These guys aren't exactly normal and we have the worlds best medical staff. Barring something unexpected, I think all three suit up contribute

Averett, Wallace, Brown, Hootie, and no doubt Minkah and Ronnie will leave.

I'm very high on McKinney. He and Thompson will make a solid pair at s. They both bring the pain. I'm not worried about s.

Bama has a lot riding on Diggs. If Diggs gets it together next year he and savion smith could also make a heckuva pair at corner. Smith supposedly has been a lock down corner at jc this year, and is a former 5 star recruit.

Shy Carter or Mayden if he gets beat out at corner will be an improvement at star over Brown. Brown has been getting torched for two years now. So I think we upgrade there likely.

Secondary will miss Fitz though no doubt.

Sorry for grammar and lack of punctuation... half asleep posting from phone.

We'll have two different opinions on this with one caveat: Saban said the same thing I did earlier this week.

Funny thing about saying "other players out of position" is Saban saying he's as good of a play caller as SDH.

Now, losing SHD is a blow depth wise, no doubt. Funny thing about critiquing Keith ... do you happen to know which player on defense has a really bad missed tackle percentage?

Gotta be in the zip code to miss a tackle... ;)

Yes I think whoever replaces Hootie and Tony Brown will be an improvement. Neither has impressive instincts... Have to give him credit for last week's pick because that was a nice play, but Hootie hits like a punter. Tony tries to lay the wood but he's usually late to the party.

Diggs, Shy Carter, the Juco kid, and Mayden are all good bets. Between Mickinney, Knight, Wright, and Kyriqe McDaniel we need 2 to step up. Seems like a good bet one talented freshman will push for playing time as well... Especially since the previously named haven't broke the rotation yet.

Vester Thompson, Deionte's dad, is a good friend of mine. D is definitely an upgrade from Hootie and Tony, and has better coverage skills than Ronnie. I'm actually very excited about next year's secondary.

McKinney has already shown he's ready, because Coach Saban has thrown him out there a few times, and those are his guys. I think Daniel Wright will be the next guy. Gotten a year of special teams play, done very well, and will be ready for live action on defensive series next season.

Hootie and Tony haven't impressed consistently, but do have a lot of big game experience. Hopefully some of the younger guys are a step up, but if they are better with better skills now, why aren't they starting? If Harrison isn't that great, maybe he won't get the grade to go pro. I'd be good with him staying another year. Diggs hasn't impressed me when he played early in the year. Levi or Anthony to him would seem like a drop-off at least at this point. But these guys have 9 months or so to get better and more comfortable in the schemes/etc.

He's a first rounder: gone.
Agree 100%. That's why I say we could have a drop-off in our secondary next year. Some don't think so, but I think we will. Losing 2 first rounders from the back-end leaves a mark. Still think we'll be good back there, just less experienced and less proven. Heck, if Marlon can go as high as he did this spring, Levi should get a lot of looks. One of many good examples of a guy stepping up to fill a star's old slot.

Yes he's gone. Would be a fool to stay.

I do see Deionte Thompson as the same type of player just a smidge smaller. Thompson tries to seriously lay the wood the same way Harrison does... I'm not used to seeing such skinny dudes with that mentality.

TBH though... I get a wierd feeling seeing Thompson on the field. If he was involved in jumping that kid, that's a serious issue. Not his fault the justice system has moved so slowly... But you just wish his name was cleared or that was over with.

You really think he'll go in the first round? I see him a step below Collins, Jackson, Clinton-Dix and Barron - and only two of those were first rounders. I know each draft is different, best player available, best fit for team, etc., but in my amateur mind I was seeing him as late second or into the third round.
I've seen him projected as high as the top 15.

I'm not sure how Ronnie Harrison projects at the next level? I thought we would see a little more out of him this season. Payne and a few others might stick around and pull a Jonathan Allen, Ryan Anderson, Reuben Foster thing.
