🏈 Lame Kitten a disaster?

This from Volquest last night.

Just five months after filling the post, Tennessee is apparently looking for a new football strength and conditioning coach.

Volquest.com has learned that after meetings this afternoon head strength coach Mark Smith and head coach Lane Kiffin have agreed to part ways. Smith told people in and around the program this afternoon that he was "done" as the football strength coach and Volquest understands that Smith has packed his office.

Smith came to Knoxville in December from South Carolina and after five months of working together Kiffin and Smith have apparently agreed that it's best for everyone to part ways. Details of the "divorce" are not complete in part because Smith was given a multi-year contract when hired. We will have more as this story continues to develop.

This reminds me so, so much of our hiring Shula. Then, it was Bama fans talking about the assistant coaches and how they would be very important to Shula's success.

In this situation, it's the Vols talking about their assistants.

Now, I see that article I just posted and immediately think of Ben Pollard. Don't get me wrong, I loved what Rocky could have brought to the S&C program here - if he was allowed to do so.

When it comes to a S&C coach, it's usually one of two things that would cause them to part ways. Either the S&C coach want the players to actually work out on his program, or the HC wants him to look the other way on something else. Either way, there's no way Mark Smith leaves without a gag order on the severence pay.
