🏈 Kiffin says Tua was going to transfer

I'm not sure how LK would even know what Tua was thinking or feeling. He's not on campus anymore and I doubt he has anything more than speculation from his point of view from South Florida.

Tua came to Bama knowing that Jalen was a Freshman starter that took that team to a NC final and almost won. I don't think it came as any surprise that he was not inserted as a starter in the season. I find that story from LK to be very hard to believe...

Tua didn't come to back up, bro.

None of you stay in touch with the people you worked with? Of course Kiffin has info on Alabama. Especially in that business... They're all begging for jobs from each other.

After watching Tua play like an absolute stud in the most pressure packed moment, do you really question if he wasn't regularly at least competing if not out playing Jalen in practice? Unless of course the O was only practicing QB run's.

I'm a Kiffin hater through and through but he has no reason to make that up. Marriota was at the same high school, played for Chip, UCLA would have been extremely convenient. I bet Chip sh*t his pants after Tua's first TD. That shit = the smell of broken dreams.

Marcus vs Jalen aren't really that much different in their first year. A few extra games (but that's why you go to Bama...)

Sorry but I believe it.
Literally, you believe 99% of what you hear despite having people tell you you've heard wrong. This statement really isn't saying much.

When did veracity become "no reason to make it up?" Especially with Kiffin. He had no reason to lie about a lot he's said: didn't stop him.

What's being missed here are the comments Tua said Monday night. That, and what's evidently an assertion you think Tua was forced to lie when he's commented about his back-up role. "What's he supposed to say?"

Kiffin is an attention whore and he’ll say and do whatever he needs to keep the media’s attention on him, truth be damned.

How the hell would he know anything about what Tua would or wouldn’t do?

Kiffin should do more growing up and less running his mouth

G Macv said on Finebaum yesterday that Tua "blew it up" in practice with the "ones" the past couple of weeks as the team prepared for the two playoff games. During the regular season he didn't have as many reps with the "ones" as he did in the post season preparations. G Mac said it was during those practices and not in the mop up roles during the season where he showed the coaches he was ready. He didn't think there was anything to the transfer rumors.

IDK about Kiffin's info but I trust G Mac a lot more than I do Kiffin.

I listened to the interview just to make sure I had it in its correct context. It's a load of crap. He said before the game everyone knew, including him, that Tua was the way to go. It was "Saban's stuborness" that kept Tua from starting.

However, while everyone "knew" ...

While I think it’s highly likely that Kiffin is just spouting off to keep people talking about him I don’t find it hard to believe Tua had contemplated transfer. Hurts is a 4 year guy and if he had remained in the game Monday night and Bama won there would be no competition come spring. With Tua’s talent would you sit 3 to play 1? I wouldn’t.

Sorry didn't read to the end of this group of posts to see what anyone else wrote but this bullshit. Lane has know idea and the kid the other night when asked answered the question in a very non-dodgey way saying that it wasn't even on his mind. Think it would be outside his character to do that and/or lie about it. Now if he was lied to, I wouldn't be shocked if he transferred but I think he would be up front about it.. He wouldn't back door anyone.. just not who he is.
I know a few kids like him that I have had the pleasure of knowing around church and they are wired a little different than lane kiffin or you are. He has a strong drive to do what is right (see Tim Tebow) and it is part of who he is.

I think lane can be funny, that he has an opinion about everything and he did a good job for us but he has no inside information and wouldn't understand this kids mental make up because it is 180 degrees in the other direction from him.

T.O. born and bred in Alexander City. Hard to believe he went to UTC and not BAMA or the Barn. He stated earlier in one of the 10,000 brodcasts that he was a BAMA fan growing up but didn't do what he needed to do to get to UA and that UTC gave him a shot.

I knew all that except the reasoning you stated at the end. Makes sense.

My wife grew up in that major metropolis, Kellyton, and went to Coosa High. She was a senior when Justin Tuck was a frosh.

I was at Sylacauga HS coaching when Tuck was coming through. Hell of an athlete!!! Monster on the boards in Basketball too. I spit my coffee out when you described Kellyton as a “metropolis”!

Yes, when you're the backup you're forced to lie.

Do you have a significant other, Terry? What do you tell her when she asks if she looks fat in an outfit? If you were to somehow answer inaccurately, does that make you a liar or a good partner? :popcorn2:

No chance Tua was staying to backup Jalen. He saw what most of us posters saw at QB ahead of him. Now had Saban "promised" him an open competition heading into Spring and ACTUALLY GAVE HIM ONE, maybe Saban avoids losing him. But I'm pretty sure Saban "promised" him the same out of HS otherwise he wouldn't have come. And again, as the season progressed, we could all see what our QB position became (well, some of us).

But I'm on the Kiffin train here... Choo Choo.

and why do we care what Lane Kiffin says at this point?

he's no longer on the staff at BAMA. he's no longer associated with BAMA. he's no longer getting paid by BAMA. he's at another school. he should worry about his own players and not bring up stuff about a former place of employment or a former player he may have had contact with.

Agree 1,000%

He committed to UA when Lane was on staff.... And technically came to play for him as the OC. Pretty sure there are legitimate relationships involved at that point when a kid chooses UA over dozens of offers.
