Alabama doesn't really have a reputation as a heart attack team. 2010 AU is a heart attack team. I agree that Kiffin called a pretty good game That said I don't know that Sims is the answer. I definitely know that Sylve isn't the answer. Was nice to have good kicking though.

What I mean by that statement is traditionally fans want a team to start fast and get out ahead of the curve so everyone is comfortable. BAMA has always been inconsistent with that. They usually have long slow drives and cause me to have a heart attack when their games are close

Kiffin was on the sideline because he needed to be able to speak face to face with his inexperienced QB's. I think he and CNS are more comfortable right now with calling plays from the sideline. I did not like one series where Yeldon and Henry had been running the ball well and we came out with two to three pass plays. Overall, CLK did a fine job running the offense. If you also noticed, the offense had several different looks than our two previous OC's. Loved the no huddle we ran.

These two points go hand in hand, it seems to me, when Bama plays Texas A and M. I don't see anything vastly different from what we've witnessed the last two years against the Aggies. Can we keep up this year if they score 42? They'll throw at Sylve so much he'll have nightmares for years.

I think that by the UF game, both Sylve and Jones will be backups. Jackson will take over for Sylve and Brown and Humphrey will push Jones out.

Since everyone is basing season conclusions on one game, that would also mean that statement is wrong—specifically Auburn. Arkansas fell apart in the second half, but had over 300 total offensive yards by the end of the first half: more passing than rushing.

Now, with LSU? Wisky can't throw the ball. But, almost 275 yards rushing.

Maybe not 300 from the QB position...but seeing at least three guys with 100 yards isn't out of the question against either team. (Christion Jones had 130 AP yards. So, we could say that was 100, 100, 100, 100...)

Coach Kiffin did great!! If Sims can even pretend he's a good long throw our offense is going to have yards like crazy. Might need to pretend we have more WRs than Cooper, but was good.

Sylve won't be a starter by Florida.

I too thought Kiffin did an excellent job. I also thought that the interaction between Saban and Kiffin seemed positive, constructive, and reflective of mutual respect.

Last time Kiffin was solely an offensive coordinator, he produced a 1000 yard receiver, two 1000 yard running backs and a 3000 yard passer.

Amari was over 100. Yeldon was over 100, Henry was over 100 and Sims would have been at 300 without a dropped pass by Christian Jones. Kiffin knows how to showcase with his playmakers. We had nearly 600 yards of offense. At some point, we need to quit worrying about who is throwing the ball and what plays we are running, and start talking about how to defend a pass.

Some of the assumptions you guys are making are hilarious. Saban didnt have confidence in Kiffin because he was standing in the middle of the offensive huddle. Saban talked to Kiffin more than the other OCs... for the simple fact that you could see it because he was on the field rather than the both. Yeah ok...

Exactly! Kiffin is not even looking at Saban. He is talking to whoever is in the booth. Saban is intently listening to both of them.

Kiffin did a great job. In the 2nd when Blake was kind of rattled a bit and was calling the wrong checks at the line it really helped him that Kiffin was on the sidelines.

Saban was in the middle of the offense because he could see that Blake was rattled and also breaking in a new QB and OC he wants to make sure things are going good.

I really thought that was the most overlooked aspect of Sims' start. Saban keeping him in the game allowed him to grow, mature and build confidence.

It seems to me that Kiffin did a good job. He was on the sidelines to "settle" Sims and get him into running the offense. Perhaps Saban had some influence in finishing with a strong running game.

Kiffin was not a problem at all. The fact of him being on the sideline to look into the QB's eyes and settle him down if need be was an amazing decision. The play calling especially early giving Sims some short little simple throws to Cooper in space to get him some momentum early was great. I actually thought the play calling was good the entire game except I felt like that later in the game when Henry and Yeldon were breaking off chunk after chunk we went away from them a little going back to the pass when just needed to continue to feed the beasts. I also wonder about that interception. Did Christion Jones run the wrong route or was that just a horrible designed play?

The route from the outside receiver was meant to hold the corner and thus allow OJ down the seam. I don't know if the route was just a poor route or if he broke it off.

The CB was playing off Cooper, and was looking in the backfield the whole time. Sims should have read that IMO.

In this year of hating on Bama you can bet that the talking heads will try to make something out of this issue, even if nothing is there. You could tell the cameras were looking for this. Kirby was on the sidelines as well, and I don't remember seeing him on camera.

Agreed @Eabama! I watched again today and his read was whatever the corner did, throw opposite.

One thing that concerned me about Kiffin - I rarely saw him talking to the offense that Saban wasn't standing right there with them. I don't recall that kind of oversight with McElwain or Nussmeier.

That's why they wear headsets.
