<!-- begin free preview text -->Athlete Blake Sims (Gainesville, Ga./Gainesville) backed out of a long-standing verbal commitment to Alabama the day after the Crimson Tide captured the BCS National Championship and following an in-home visit from former Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin and assistant head coach Ed Orgeron.

According to a source familiar with his recruitment, the departure of Kiffin and Orgeron to Southern California, pushes Sims back toward Bama, where he will make an official visit this coming weekend.

Sims led Gainesville to the Georgia Class 3A championship game as a quarterback this year. He could play on either side of the ball in college and part of Tennessee's pitch to him was that he could play offense in Knoxville. Alabama has told him he can pick the side of the ball he starts his career on.

Should the Crimson Tide re-land Sims, that gives them two extremely versatile prospects in Sims and ESPNU 150 standout Keenan Allen (Greensboro, N.C./Northern Guilford).<!-- end free preview text -->
