Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin said he chose not to run another play before the Volunteers attempted a potential game-winning field goal against Alabama in part because of the penalty disparity between the two teams.
Are you serious ? He is contridicting his self here. He stated earlier he didn't run it because he felt his kicker could make it from there.

"You run another play and you throw an interception or they throw another flag on us -- I wasn't going to let the refs lose the game for us there and some magical flag appear," Kiffin said Sunday.
Cry Cry Cry

"If a play's still going, you can't take your helmet off," Kiffin said. "A guy throws his helmet as the ball's still live. He throws his helmet and then two of their guys go and recover the ball. It's a 15-yard penalty, and you kick again."

This has been adressed and they released a statement that it would have been Alabama's ball regaurdless if the penalty was called. It also stated that it was after the clock hit :00 and the game was already over. :nana:

I can not wait to play this guy next year and run him out of his own stadium again like last year. Talk about a sore loser ?

1st Quarter
TENNESSEE penalty 5 yard false start accepted.
TENNESSEE penalty 8 yard pass interference accepted.

2nd Quarter
No penalties on TN

3rd Quarter
TENNESSEE penalty 15 yard illegal block accepted.
(This was when he rolled in front of Arenas when he almost took it to the house. Easy call.)
TENNESSEE penalty 5 yard delay of game accepted.

4th Quarter
TENNESSEE penalty 5 yard false start accepted.
TENNESSEE penalty 10 yard holding accepted.
TENNESSEE penalty 15 yard roughing the kicker accepted. (Easy Call)
TENNESSEE penalty 5 yard false start accepted.

Now as you can see. Thses are the penalties through out the game. Please tell me where the questionable call is at ? It is easy to call 95% of them calls with no questions what so ever.

Just wanted to point this out is all.

There were four seconds on the clock. Four.

Its obvious that as long as Kiffin is at Tennessee, any losses they incurr (in his eyes)will be a product of poor officiating or the other team 'cheating.' I got into a yelling match with a Tennessee fan about this yesterday!

Kiffin thought he was going to come into Knoxville and run the SEC table. That's not working out so well for him. I am also glad to see that he has guaranteed a win over us next year. That will make the sound of Rammer Jammer in Neyland Stadium that much sweeter.

I hate the Vols. I hate the Vols' new coach, and I hate their fan base. I live in Tennessee. My 9 year old son is wearing his #62 jersey to school today.

That is all.

Kiffin should be thanking the refs. There was obvious pass interference on Julio on the end zone duringthe second quarter. And on their last posesssion, on the play before they completed the pass to the tight end to get into filed goal range, they were holding our #55 right out in the open.

Not just holding, but the 55 was between the OL and QB and the OL had his arm around his chest from behind. Not the only time that happened I might add.

Kiffin is playing to the lowest common denominator. A modicum of research would give anyone plenty of sound bites to say to the toothless nation that would give him "hill cred". His biggest job this year is to keep the games as close as possible and point out all of the "black helicopters" that are arrayed against them. It will eventually wear out without a preponderance of "W's" to satiate the slobbering ridge runners of rocky flop. We should wear Crimson jerseys to their stadium next year. There would be about 100,000 instant aneurysms in Neyland.

I read their comments. There are about two guys over there with a bit of sense. Nick Saban does not call our plays to my knowledge. Was it dumb play calling ? Yes, of course it was. The good thing about it, you learn from your mistakes. For their discussion on the penalties, you can see my statement from ealier. 95% of the calls were calls that could be made by my 80 year old grandma. Seriously, she has good vision :)
