🏈 Kentucky is 4-1

Here's how bad it is: I have a Kentucky fan who called me and said he hopes "we get to play Bama in the Championship game. We owe you guys big time."

I replied, "I hope so too" but for far different reason than he meant.

It must be something in the air around here. Has anyone check to see who else Kentucky play the rest of the season?
Here the rest of the Schedule
ULM WarHawks
LSU
Miss St.
Missouri
Georgia
Tenn.
Louisville

I don't know if they will win the east but last nights win against the ole ball coach and company was a signature win for UK football.

A good win for a first year coach in Stoops, no doubt. Signature win? I don't see it as that big based on a few things:

•UofSC team this year.
•They only lost by seven last year.
•Won in 2010 and UofSC was ranked at game time.

I'd be tempted to say beating UGA would be a bigger deal. But, they've beaten them twice in the last six years as well. UT? Meh. LSU? UK won against them in 2007.

A building block...

@TerryP @psychojoe the news channel out of Huntington, W.V., my NBC affiliate, has been showing the crowds going crazy in Lexington, 2 hours from me. The people are quoted as calling it a signature win for their program. I agree, beating USC would not be that big of deal but UK football is starving for any success they can find.

I'd suggest it's a safe assumption Kentucky football fans don't know what a signature win is. If they would have won in the Swamp I'd say signature win even with UF playing as poorly as they have been.

Then again, I don't know what it would be like to lose 17 SEC games in a row and then win back-to-back conference games.

Mike, I don't have time to look it up now, but I bet it has been a long time since Kentucky has won back to back SEC games in football.

I looked at that yesterday. It's happened three times, this century. I went back as far as 1992 and found eight times: three, three game winning streaks.

On a slightly different note...watched bits and pieces of the UofSC v UK game last night at work. UK beat them much like we did the year Mark won the Heisman...the Gamecocks couldn't stop the wildcat.

@psychojoe @TerryP UK football has had a long history of losing on a regular basis with only Vandy probably being worse. I spoke with my barber and the PA announcer for our local high school basketball team, both huge UK fans and you would think they have won the National Championship in football. I guess when you don't win in football often they can crow a little. :notall:
