🏈 Keep Trent Richardson in your prayers

Just heard from a good buddy of mine and source that Trent Richardson's momma died and that's why he is not with the team this week. Keep him, his girls, and his family in your prayers as I can't imagine what it's like losing a parent well before their time, not even 50 yet.

Yeah, hearing that about his mom surprised me. He practiced all week and said Thirsday there was no way he would get benched again. Then they decided not to take him because he's now their 3rd string RB and he doesn't play special teams. Never heard them say anything about an ailing relative. But maybe that came up suddenly after the benching.

The Baltimore Sun ran a story that said he missed a walk through practice and didn't report in until after the fact due to "personal reasons." The story said he was suspended from the team and left behind, if I remember right. I'll try to find that link.

Found it interesting in this ESPN article, looks like suspending him when they did and with him not getting to serve both games before the year ended could save the team some dough.

"Richardson served the first game of his suspension in the AFC Championship Game at New England and he'll serve the second game at the team's discretion next season if he's back, according to a league official, since they did not make the Super Bowl. The suspension of Richardson will allow the Colts to walk away from the $3.18 million in salary guaranteed for next season. "

In a different direction... WTF is up with Terrance Cody? Is he Michael Vick II or what? Haven't heard many details but it looks like he's been unusually cruel to a dog or dogs. Hope it isn't true. If so, idiot... Deserves to be cut. And with those charges stick, doubt anyone else will pick him up.

The Colts suspended tailback Trent Richardsonfor two games, General Manager Ryan Grigson confirmed on Friday.

Grigson did not elaborate on the reason for the ban. It wasn’t immediately known whether the suspension would continue on for the 2015 season or whether it would have just encompassed the AFC title game at New England and if the Colts played in Super Bowl XLIX.

Grigson also did not shed much light on whether Richardson would return for the final year of his contract with Indianapolis, saying the tailback would be evaluated just like other players. Richardson is guaranteed $3.18 million in salary in 2015.

As PFT’s Mike Florio notes, the question now is whether the suspension will void the provision guaranteeing next season’s salary, taking the Colts off the hook for the money if they release him.

Richardson was deactivated for Sunday’s loss to the Patriots after not traveling with the club. He missed the club’s Saturday walk-through, though Richardson indicated it was for a “serious family emergency,” per ESPN.com.

Howard Balzer of The Sports Xchange reported earlier this week that Richardson had been suspended.

The Colts traded a No. 1 pick for the 24-year-old Richardson in 2013, but he has not produced as hoped. He was also a healthy scratch for the Colts’ divisional-round win at Denver.

UPDATE 1:43 p.m. ET: The second game of Richardson’s suspension carries over to 2015 if he’s a Colt, Mike Wells of ESPN.com reports.
