I will not provide a link. I will not discuss the story in detail. I will only say the following:

Don Kausler seems to go out of his way to assist in negative reporting of the program he is assigned as a beat writer. He sharts himself trying to take a crap on Bama every chance he gets.

Essentially, he chose to retell the "why Juwuan James decommited" story from the ATL paper as a blog article.

This guy is a joke.

The worst part about his "piece" is there isnt a single fact stated in it, only speculation. He really must have a quota to meet with his number of entries and they must not be very strict.

Al.com, and especially the B'ham News part of it, must push its writers to write pieces that stir up anger and incite blog-reply riots. The more posts they get, the better they can sell ad space. What else would explain their continued employment of that snide, vapid ignoramus, John Archibald?

I don't know that this new guy is any worse than Ian Rappaport was or that Scarbinsky and Melick and the rest of them are. In fact, I occasionally see glimpses of old-style sports journalism from him—the kind where the writer understands the English language and actually cheers when for the team he writes about wins.

I have a feeling Kausler doesn't enjoy doing these stupid blog pieces.

I don't understand.... you won't provide a link but you will start a topic about it? :headscratch:

I've yet to see a Birmingham sports writer that is half way decent. Scarbinsky sucks (didn't he apply as a food critic?), Ian sucked, and Melick is one of the worst I've ever seen/heard/read.

Cecil is pretty good. Gentry Estes is ok.

Much ado about nothing is how I see it.

He's got a short piece out, referencing an article in the AJC.

I won't post a link because I do not wish to increase his page visits.

Why talk about it? Because it is relevant. This guy is THE Bama beat reporter for the B'ham News. Typically, beat reporters are not as negative about the team they are assigned to as this guy. While they don't have to be shills for the program, I don't much care for them being constant boo birds.

Kausler has shown nothing but guarded insolence and backhanded compliments since he arrived. He is the type of guy to repeat rumors and innuendo which could negatively impact the program for his own sense of importance.

Not talking about him does not make him go away. Not reacting to him on his blog and not buying the paper might negatively affect him, but I doubt it. Treating him like a pariah seems more feasible.
