šŸˆ Kalen Deboer receives contract extension.

It's a little bit of a unique situation... He had 2 major schools (PSU and UM) come after him... both wanted him, both would have "officially" offered him if given the chance. Those were not false flag exercises orchestrated by Sexton, they were real. If it had only been Penn State that came after DeBoer, maybe nothing happens on UA's end of things. But having both of those schools try and pry him away? Something was going to get done. They hammered out the framework in December, but unfortunately, Bama got run by Indiana which left some stink over everything and the announcement got shelved. I know some fans will say that at that point, the deal should have been off, but that ain't how it works. Nor should it be for a serious institution.

As for the terms... This new extension does give UA a little bit more protection on the buyout too, up from $4 to $10 million, if DeBoer leaves. That may not sound like a lot, and in the grand scheme it isn't, but it is a better deal for UA's side. It's just enough to give Bama some significant compensation while also allowing DeBoer an out if things get rough. Because like I've said yesterday and previously, he does not want to get fired.

He says. No Michigan contact at all. ?????

Who knows.

Sure he doesn't wanna get fired. Do a mediocre job and get the money bama is paying him!!!!

Well we stuck with him. I hope it works out. And we see a different level of play.

Year 3 dead ahead

He didn’t sit down or speak with UM. Sexton and others did. They tried to get him. IMO, he wasn't going (unless a lot of bad/dumb things happened on UA's end). But, the whole scenario created leverage for his side.

The doesn't want to get fired thing... Yes, he has the golden parachute built into the contract if he wants it. I'm told, and have said before, that he'd rather have another out if it were to come to that. Which brings me to your last point... no, Bama isn't stuck with him, and he's not stuck with Bama. He will have options to leave again, especially if he keeps winning. And the $10 buyout barrier isn't too high to scare anyone off, but it college or NFL.

The world has changed. There are only a small handful of coaches that get rewarded with new contracts based on performance. Everyone else gets a new contract based on the outlook for their school's need to find a good HC in the future. Coaches who lead their team to a top 5, top 10 performance aren't likely to leave their team in the offseason. Good coaches in the second tier (had a unusually good season but didn't win a championship) are the ones that are sought after in the hopes they can take a team over the final hurdle or rebuild a failing brand. When he was hired at Alabama, DeBoer had led his team (Washington) to a top 10-type season AND had an unusually good season but didn't win a championship. Those types of coaches don't come available often so schools are "forced" to throw money at their coaches so that they aren't on another school's list of potentials.

No matter who the coach is, adjusting to the demands of the Alabama role are difficult. Nobody is Saban. Nobody is Bryant.

I doubt anyone.... really deep down inside... expected him to be Saban 102.
But i think we all expected competitive hard nose football teams. No reason not to!!!!!

Haven't seen it. KD is shown walking up n down sideline. Looking lost. Team can't run the ball with quality olinemen
. Poor performance QBs arent sat. Hurt QBs are left in ( well when oline cant protect .. qbs get hurt). Team gets dominated over n over.
Embarrassed.

What are fans expected to feel???????
Everyone sees it. Except.... HC??????
Team looks soft. Obvious Not prepared. Obvious loss to inferior teams.

World has changed. I agree.
I guess its what its gonna be.

I want to touch on few things. I've seen stuff here and there on other board on CKD and his extensions.

What everyone doesn't seem to understand that despite all the issues the team had, injuries on OL, RB, and Simpson's injuries didn't help they made it to SEC Championship and made to 2nd round in CFB playoff. That's one hell of a work. If you were witnessing the situation playing out on the field, you would be walking on sideline confused as hell, wondering, "WTF is going on." They tried their best to fix the issues.. but if you remember what Saban said years ago... It's hard to fix problems during the season because you simply don't have time. You just do the best job as you can.. and you fix it in offseason. That's exactly what CKD did.

So the statement you made about " Everyone see it, except HC. That's not necessary at all. You didn't have to make a statement that wasn't accurate. He definitely saw the issues, and made a note of it, and he made changes in the offseason. Look at this: Alabama Crimson Tide 2026 College Football Transfer Portal Latest Activity

Fans, especially at Alabama, and I've said this over and over: They feel entitled by the past success and have high unrealistic expectations with CKD. One thing I was proud about the team this past season is that they didn't give up. They fought like hell during the season and they simply ran out of gas toward the end.

Whether we like it or not, CKD got his extension, and it benefits both sides. It helps secure the Class of 2027 recruits. The last thing we need is is another noise toward the end of the season. We as a fan really need to chill out for real.
