🏈 Just a few thoughts, post Florida game

...Man, Courtney Upshaw is an absolute beast. Saban's defense is unreal when he can drop 7 or 8 back in to cover, and rely on the front 4/3 to get pressure on the QB. If we can do that, we're gonna be tough to beat.

I loved seeing the raw emotion from Richardson tonight. I could tell early that he was going to have a big night.

Our next couple of game should be pretty routine. HOWEVER, our biggest enemy right now has got to be complacency. It's easy for anyone to look at the next four weeks, and think that we have these in the bag...but we must continue to improve. This team has the look of a champion, but (and I know this might sound funny) I hope they don't get bored...

And last but not least...am I the only one that was completely annoyed by the amount of barking that Muschamp was doing over there on the sideline?? It didn't take long for me to start disliking that guy....geez.

My sentiments as well. Something that kind of concerns me is that even though we played awesome and never really got in a situation where we would lose, it was still a very emotional game. I hope the team can quickly put this win behind them after all the hype and their performance. This team definitely has what it takes but there is plenty to improve on.

I was very pleased with the team overall, save for special teams kickoff. It concerns me that either Foster doesn't have the leg or that the staff is relying on always kicking short. If it's by design then sooner or later it will bite us. If it's Foster then what is up with him? I seem to remember his HS highlight footage with some decent kicks.

Our D is scary! Nuff said.

AJ played excellent. Big props to the Oline for tons of protection and not allowing a SINGLE sack all night! It is nice seeing AJ grown and develop each game. I think this will be as hostile as an environment he will face in the regular season and despite all the critics, it never fazed him. I have faith he can get us there by being a game manager. I will admit I hold my breath on ANY deep ball he throws. He needs more touch on the ball I think but who I am lol?

Lots of crazy hard hitting tonight. Overall the team shut up any nay-sayers who may of doubted the Tide. I hate it for Brantley. Looks like a season ender injury. The backup almost suffered the same injury. Freaky.

Last but not least Verne needs to go. Soooo many times tonight he was off in la-la land. $90k instead of 90+k fans? Gainesville, AL? At the start of the 2nd half he was talking like lets see which QB comes out, yet this was after our kickoff return? He realized he screwed up and rather than just accept and apologize he tried to back-peddle some nonsense and it only made it worse. Gary knew it too but just seemed like he was trying to tune him out LOL.

A big night and I loved Saban showing a few things for future teams to think about even when the game was well in hand. He is always 5 steps ahead.

this team dismantles any team in their path when we're running on all cylinders. They have what it takes. Now lets stomp a mudhole in anyone in our way to destiny!!!

RTR my brothers and sisters!!

I know we have a great defense, but it seems they were playing really loose tonight. Florida's receivers were almost always wide open.
I think they were trying to get Florida to throw more so they had more chances at a turnover:lol: After all The Bear said "3 things can happen when you throw the ball and two of them are bad."

btw way is it my imagination or is this the 2nd week in a row that our first 17 points came from offense, defense and special teams?

Our D was delivering some hits out there tonight. I love the way Dre was "Ronnnie Lotting" his tackles, and Upshaw....enough said!

Someone mentioned this in an earlier post but I have to reiterate...Trent was clearly running with a purpose and you could tell from the first run he had. I thought A.J. played well and I can't wait til he gets those long balls worked out....but better to overthrow than underthrow them.

I had to crack a smile when, after A.J. snuck it in, Saban came onto the field and yelled at him to "settle the f*c% down!"

I can't wait for AJ to work out his long ball passing as well, but I agree that it's better for him to overthrow than to underthrow. So far, he has erred on the side of safety with respect to avoiding INTs and that's smart playing. Still, it would be nice to see him connect on some of those b/c our guys are getting open.

I must have missed Saban chewing him out after his touchdown. I saw Saban chew out John Fulton who also wears number 10, but missed the AJ chewing out.

he was throwing his hands up in the air at the crowd like "yeah, boo me!" type chest-beating crap that i can't stand and neither can saban. just be glad they called roughing the passer on the guy in the first place, when everyone clearly knows you dragged him into it. the last thing we need is a cocky QB and i hope saban makes that VERY clear this week.

I'm almost positive it was AJ getting Saban's best. It was right after the QB sneak IIRC. AJ was pumped because he punched it in right after the play where they took the cheap shot on him. I think AJ was telling the ref the guy tried to upcut him either with his helmet or his fist. Couldn't really tell but watching the replay and trying to guesstimate what AJ's hand motions to the ref was, that's what I come up with. CNS wanted him to stay composed and not get us an excessive celebration penalty I think. I'm still waiting to see the first team get their TD taken away from the new rules on taunting/excessive celebration. It was a very emotional drive and game overall!

If you watch Saban's PC after the game he fielded a question about getting on to McCarron after that penalty. Said that Florida had just gotten two personal foul penalties called on them, and that he felt like AJ might have been letting them get in to his head.

I don't think that Saban was upset with AJ showing the emotion like he was, he just wanted to make sure that AJ still had his head in the right place. An angry QB usually does not perform the best.
