🏈 Just 3 byes this year.

Just out of curiousity, how many teams have a bye-week before they play the barn? Only if someone has researched this. I don't put forth effort to research anything about the wannabe's, nor would I expect anyone else to do so. To me, if your competition takes a bye-week before they play you, it tells me that they not only respect you, but they also know that they are playing the best program in the country and you better bring your "A" game.

Glad you asked. I was just about to post a side note about UGA anyway.

Here is the breakdown for this year:

Alabama--3 conf teams have off weeks prior to playing (VN, OM, LSU)
Aub--0
Ark--0
FL--1 (GA)
GA--3 (TN, FL, Aub)
KY--1 (MSU)
LSU--1 (AL)
MSU--0
OM--1 (Ark)
SC--0
TN--1 (SC)
VN--0

Kentucky will take its off week prior to an non-conference game.

And now the side note. UGA's 3 this year will tie them for second with LSU for the past five(2007-2011)years. Both will have had 6 for those years. Laughable in that Bama had that many in one year. Bama, of course, leads in ANY five year period since 1992 when the SEC took over the conference game scheduling.

October isn't going to be an easy stretch for those guys next season...

True indeed! That October stretch includes visits to USCe, to Arky, home to Florida, at LSwho, and home to Ole Piss. I combine this schedule along with their huge losses in players, and I forecast a more reasonable season for the Barn. Crystal ball says 8-5 at best!

Most, if not all, of you know that Roy Kramer was/is/and has been responsible to date for all 20 years of scheduling since expansion. The schedules are released to the schools in ten year bundles so there have been two bundles so far, 1992-2001 and 2002-2011. So naturally the blame for all of this is placed on him.

Actually the opportunity for Kramer to screw Bama in this regard just fell into his lap like manna from Heaven. Because all 3 of the out of conference in-State rivalries (UF-FSU, UGA-GT, and USC-Clemson) involved East Division teams he had an 11 week window to schedule 8 conference games for UF, UGA, and USC. This window was closed down to 10 weeks when Vince Dooley complained about having to open each season with USC and that game was changed to the second week of the season. The East Division scheduling caused most of the open dates to fall in front of West Division teams so all he had to do was sit back and wait on the teams to use the week before Bama for their off date.

This scheduling can not and will not be changed in the future because of the East Division situation. The only way the SEC can enforce their "no more than 3 byes" rule is to put a "first-come-first served" policy in place. Which is essentially what they did this year. Auburn was the fourth school to submit a schedule with the week before Bama as open. That is why they were the one asked to change their date.

I like our bye before LSU. I hope that never changes.
that game will 8-10 times decide the west.

As for Vandy & OM......vandy will be better then Ole Miss this year...but if we have to have
3 open dates before us....i'm glad 2 are Vandy & Ole Miss.

I actually belive MS. State will be better than both vandy & OM.
