I remember him best for the deflated basketball on his desk. Recruits were told the ball didn't bounce forever and that they had better also focus on getting an education for when the ball stopped bouncing.

Not a fan of Georgetown at all.

I didn't 'hate' the Hoyas but found myself rooting against them quite often. For that matter, I found myself rooting against the Big East a lot. One thing is for certain, that conference played hard basketball back then.

I watched A LOT of college basketball back in the 80's. I never had cable until about 1984. The game was more pure, with movement, rebounding and defense. Refs called fouls and did not let a player get mugged like today.
