šŸˆ Joe Pa passes away...

Was there a tradition before ?

I don't know. That's the reason I asked.

I'm going to look at that as I watch these football games today.

I asked that question because those of us that lived through the success of the Bryant years can identify with PSU fans. He was as iconic in our culture—different reasons outside of football, mind you—as Paterno is theirs.

But, as Kirk just pointed out to Stomp, our traditions didn't start with Coach Bryant. They continued.

I see Wade as putting the SE on the map in terms of college football. Thomas put the state of Alabama on college football's map while Coach Bryant put Tuscaloosa along with a "highlighted pin" on our University.

I wonder if Gen. Neyland is to UT is akin to Paterno to PSU. Neyland put UT on the map.

Setting all the story lines aside, those imbeciles at Westboro Baptist church plan to picket Paterno's funeral.

I know they are against abortion. I've got my own beliefs. BUT, if there was ever a case of the need for retroactive abortion? Here it is.

I'm sure there were plenty of Bama fans saying out loud " what will Bama be without Bear Bryant", when he died. Much of their fan base is simply in shock from what all has happened. Don't read more into it than necessary...

True that! They were just the state college before Joe Pa.

Not true. Paterno does have the highest winning percentage in PSU history. But, he isn't the only coach to win a NC in Happy Valley. He's not the only coach to have undefeated teams in Happy Valley.

Like Bryant, he simply added onto a tradition and foundation that was already in place; much like another coach will in the future.

They are not just against abortions but also our military, since we allow gays to be in the military. They also picket celebs who lives the WBC deem as sinners. When a troop dies they often go to their home area and picket. There is a special place in hell for the WBC freakshow family. Hitler will be waiting there with pineapple in hand.

Phelps and his gang of idiots have been no-shows for the last several military funerals they have threatened to attend. Hopefully the Patriot Guard will put in an appearance for Joe Pa. they have sheilded families and mourners from the WBC morons at several military funerals.

Rip Engle was Penn State's head coach from 1950 through 1965. He had a 104-48-4 record and was 3-1 in bowl games.

Are you an Alabama fan? Have you read no history on this team? Or ate you trolling?

I was having a conversation with a Arkansas fan just the last few days about this.

He posed a question. "Do you know the difference between Wallace Beery and Wallace Wade?" I did, but only because I studied Film when I was at UA.

His point is true, none-the-less. Most people know we won National Championships before Coach Bryant, but it isn't the first thing that comes to mind because there has been so much emphasis over the years on the "poll era." (Of course, that mostly came from those trying to refute claims Alabama has for NC's)

I think Stomp was asking a legit question. As long as you've been here tick, have you ever seen Stomp "troll?" I haven't and none of the other staff members here have either. If we did, he'd likely not be here because all you inmates in our little asylum here would have ran him off.

I think you need to give him a break on this: actually, I know.

great resource for football scores, results, coaching records, etc.

http://www.cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/div_ia/bigten/penn_state/coaching_records.php

I use that often, along with a host of others.

In fact, that gives me an idea. Maybe we should put another tab up top that's a database. Probably include this link and a host of others I have...which I'm sure a lot have some to add as well.

First...need to get that twitter hub finished!!!
