Just.....WOW!

But ESPN loves 'em. They'll be in the hunt for the National Championship if they don't implode and lose 5 games.

Wow! Amazed.

:bs:

Two ways to look at this season with ND.

One, they are one play away from being undefeated.

Two, they are a few plays away from being 1-4.

Luck of the Irish? The luck of Charlie Wies?

My thoughts Terry is that there is only one way to look at it...as it is.

So many teams are 3,4, or 5 plays away form being undefeated, but making 3-5 plays is what legitimizes the top teams.

Airing out "IF"s and "AND"s, or "BUT"s just comes across as classless. Lets keep in mind that Auburn is 1-2 years of Probation away from having legitemate National Championships.

That may be true, in an idealistic world.

But, when it comes to voters, rankings, the BCS standings, bowl games, etc....

Those "if's" carry a lot of weight.

Spot on. I was thinking the same thing watching the end of the Purdue game myself. Notre Dame has been extremely lucky at the end of some of these games. I've got to give them some credit too, as far as making the plays to win, but Wies has a lucky horse shoe up his kaboos.

They're very fortunate not to be 1-4 considering that as a team, they don't appear to do anything all that well, other than throw the vertical pass. Their running game is so-so, and the defense can't seem to shut anyone down, outside of Nevada.

Their games are coming down to the wire every week, and they've been very lucky to be in the position they are in now. Unfortunately, Notre Dame (and maybe all of the independents) have that built in clause about winning 9 (?) games and finishing in the top 12, which allows them to go to a BCS bowl. With Notre Dame's schedule, that is almost a given every season.
