Delany said he is opposed to allowing any team that does not win its division into a future championship playoff system.

"I don't have a lot of regard for that team," Delany told the AP. "I certainly wouldn't have as much regard for that team as I would for someone who played nine conference games in a tough conference and played a couple out-of-conference games on the road against really good opponents. If a poll doesn't honor those teams and they're conference champions, I do."​

I'm usually not one for running up the score, but I hope "That team" that Delany doesn't have much regard for hangs at least half a hundred on Michigan in a shutout. ​

I'm not paying any attention to what he's saying, at all. Fact is, he didn't think through what he was saying, he was just running off at the mouth.

Think about it...

He wants a couple (as in TWO) OOC games to garner his respect.

Then he wants a nine-game conference schedule?

Just how many road games does a team have to play to "get his respect?" His own math doesn't work out...unless you are looking at playing 7 of 12 on the road one year.

Show me one Ath. Dept. that can operate with five home games a year! There's a reason programs have seven at home.

I think he believes nobody matters but the Big10 and PAC12, and the winner of those 2 conferences should just play in the Rose Bowl for the NC.

I cant wait for Bama to curb stomp Michigan to start the season, then curb stomp USC in Miami to end it.

A playoff will only give the SEC a better chance of having two teams in the NC game. What happened in 2011 is easily the exception, not the rule. But putting the best 4-6 teams into a playoff (regardless of conf. champ or not) then i would predict that the SEC would have 2 teams in that playoff at least 2 out of every 5 years if not more..... recent history would have 2 SEC teams each of the past 4-5 years

22 years of being commish of the Big10 and the world looks at you as a has been...perhaps, no direction of your conference should equal no job as commish?

Here's something that is obvious, but I didn't think about it until just a few minutes ago.

Gone are the days of "bulletin-board material." There is no need to put quotes like Delaney's up; the players know about them as soon as they are mentioned.

To be fair, Delany has accomplished a few things in his lifetime that are noteworthy.

Hey, playing on UNC's basketball team and making it to the Final Four a few times IS something to hang your hat on.

And, we can't take anything away from his brainchild, "The Big10 Network." The BTN did, and still is to some degree, create waves around the college football landscape.

I did read something in his bio a few days ago that gave me a pretty good laugh.

He's credited with the average attendance figures for the Big10 increasing during his tenure of 22 years. Let's give credit where it's due, eh? He started with average crowds that mirrored attendance at Mississippi State. Now, they are averaging Arkansas type numbers in the high 70's.

That's WITH the home stadiums of Michigan, Penn State, and Ohio State. It seems as large as those venues are it would give them some sort of advantage, right?

Oh no, not taking anything away from Delaney. He had to accomplish something to be in the position he's in. But this whining he's doing now is not helping him at all. Man up, work with what ya got (which is a lot more than many for the B1G). Bottom line in college football is winning. Winning makes everything else go.

Also, something of note - his beloved B1G conf hasn't managed to win National title in any of the 4 major sports (football/basketball/baseball/women's basketball) since 2002. I wouldn't mind seeing him continue leading the B1G for another 10 years...

OK, so for years his conference is opposed to a conference championship game while real conferences eliminate teams from the BCS hunt.

After getting shut out for the last 6 years he's open to a "playoff, but only if it's Conference Champions ONLY!

That didn't fly, so then he's Conference Champions ONLY... assuming they are in the top 6 ranking spots... if not THEN and non conference champ can make it...

What? Still no takers? Ok, how about Division champs ONLY! Yeah! That will work (towards our favor)

I'll still pass. As for "having no respect..." I have no respect for a conference that names their divisions "Leaders and Ledgions". How friggin arrogant can you be?

The last AD at a major school that I know of that played just 5 home games was no longer the AD at that school the following year. Of their 4 OOC games, Dave Hart in 2007 at FSU, scheduled only Miami at home. Being the odd year, FSU had to play at UF. Hart also scheduled a game at Colorado, and, of course, the neutral site game in Jacksonville against Bama.
