Less than 10 weeks after having a cancerous kidney removed, defensive tackle Jesse Williams returned to practice with the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday. The Seahawks removed Williams from the non-football injury/illness list, allowing him to participate in Thursday's practice with his teammates.

Williams said "the kickoff to the last couple of months" was when he began urinating blood. That eventually led to the cancer diagnosis and kidney removal.

Two weeks after his kidney surgery, Williams received medical clearance to start light workouts.

"I've just tried to progress every day to get back to the field," Williams said.

The cancer diagnosis was tough to handle initially, Williams said, but he moved past it using the 24-hour rule he learned playing for Nick Saban at Alabama.
