Jamal Adams made another social media splash â this time triggering some Jets fans.
The outspoken Jets safety, who attended LSU, tweeted out some love for âBroadway Joeâ in support of star quarterback Joe Burrow, who led the Tigers to a big 46-41 win over rival Alabama on Saturday in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
That didnât go over well for many fans on Twitter who know only one âBroadway Joeâ â Joe Namath. Interestingly, Namath attended Alabama and remains a big Crimson Tide fan.
After getting some immediate backlash, Adams said sorry to Jets fans.
Darryl Roberts, Jermaine Whitehead are latest NFL players to get crushed by Twitter
âJets fans⊠apologies,â Adams tweeted. âJoe Burrow got us our first Bama win in 8 years. Let the excitement get the best of me lol! @RealJoeNamath is still the [GOAT] & that wonât ever change. Just wanted to show LSU & Burrow some Luv.â
But not everyone gave Adams grief with some tweeting Jets fans were oversensitive and others adding that they would love Burrow to come to Gang Green.
This wasnât the first time recently Adams received some blowback for a social media post. He blasted Joe Douglas on Twitter after the NFL trade deadline, ripping the general manager and saying Douglas âwent behind my backâ to shop him to other teams. That led to a multiple-day news cycle before both parties put the controversy to rest.
