If you notice, all the players that have dreads at UA have to put them in some type of pony tail and keep them tucked while they play.
Dreads are considered part of the uniform and if only the hair was to go out of bounds, the player is considered out of bounds. Saban makes all players with dreads, bind them up while playing. I learned this after we decimated ND in the Championship game in 2012. I remember Lacy coming to the interview with his dreads all draped out. You could tell he was very proud to show them off. Did some digging and that was when I heard of Saban making the players keep their dreads in a pony tail.
