Out of all the recruits this year, this guy has me interested more than the others. The obvious that stands out is dude is 28 years old but the other thing is he's 6'3", 210 lbs. and gonna play Safety (thats gotta make Saban's mouth water). But whats the scouting report look like on this dude. Rivals and everything wasnt real big back in '03 (when he was a senior) so there isn't a ton on him except that he was a WR/DB in high school and rated as a 3-star. Supposedly he was an elite basketball player too so we know hes definitely athletic as hell. He's obviously smart too since Stanford was going after him (and I think he committed there too originally).

Same here. He stuck with baseball for almost ten seasons, having a cup of coffee in the majors, but that had to establish a professional, focus mindset that should feed into his development here. Many pro baseball washouts come to college to play QB (wasn't Machen a former baseballer?), which is a huge gap to cover. From my limited perspective, it looks like he's here with the tools to be DB, and he's ready to learn from the best.

I'm excited about his potential, not to mention that he's not occupying a scholarship.

RTR,

Tim
