🏈 It's Miss. State Week

Our team needs to have complete focus on the Bulldogs this week...this is a classic trap game coming off of a huge win over LSU, our biggest rivals next week and now the hype has began about our HUGE rematch against Florida in the SECCG.

I'm sure Saban is drilling this in their heads already...but Miss. State is not slouch they have been in the past couple years. They probably should have beaten LSU...and seem to always give us a headache. It sure would be a shame for our team to come in underestimating these guys and/or be looking forward to the games we have in the coming weeks.

This win against LSU was HUGE...but it's time to move on and keep choppin our way towards the ultimate goal...one game at a time.

Good point....Miss State is a VERY good team. Don't be fooled. They will give us all we want. Their running back Dixon is a bad azz. He is the 2nd best back in the league. :a:

The Tigers' defense stuffed Mississippi State after the Bulldogs had a first-and-goal at the 2 in the final two minutes to preserve a 30-26 victory for No. 7 LSU.

It took a failed fake punt by Mississippi State to set up one fourth-quarter touchdown for Florida. And the Gators (7-0, 5-0 SEC) all but clinched the game on interception return for a touchdown by Dustin Doe, during which the showboating linebacker might have both fumbled and stepped out of bounds before reaching the end zone.

.......

I think State is a pretty solid football team that seems to be coming along in Mullen's rebuilding process. They have a pretty solid offense if they could just stop turning the ball over (which I hope they turnover all day long against Bama lol) and a very suspect defense.

by the way the 'biggest rival' is in two weeks, not next week.

They're as physical as anybody in this league and they're not into the bottom of the conference. This is gonna be a tough matchup for us, of course, but a must-win for the standards of our program. There're no excuses.

RTR,

We played out biggest rival just over two weeks ago...in my eyes at least.

RTR,

I can't agree with that Isra.

I would think that the Offense would be lickiing their chops at the chance to continue their recovery. And the Defense, a chance to go against the Offensive COordinator that knocked them out of the National Championship Game last year...which is also a chance to scrimmage against the spread again.

You dont live in Alabama and it shows. Since Pat Dye arrived AUB is the rival. When the division split came in 92 it hurt the Tenn series more. Tenn most important game is now Fla.

I will agree I enjoy beating Tenn moreso than Aub but I cant stand losing to the BARN:fight:

Mississippi State is not even in my top 4 rivals of the Tide. But for some reason, every team we play feels like they should be #1 on our list.

So, for their benefit, yes, Mississippi State is our biggest Rival. This week......

A couple of words about this game. MSU is not a disciplined football team, and they don't have great team speed. They don't have a QB that can manage the game. They have a stud RB who is working by himself. The defense has been lit up this season, much in the same was Auburn's has. In fact, I would probably scout Auburn and MSU very, very similarly. They both attempt to have a dynamic passing game, and Auburn is much closer to that goal than MSU. Both teams have tough RB's who you better gang tackle and not allow to bust outside. However, both teams have offensive lines that are mediocre. On defense, both teams have athletes, but nothing better than what Alabama has. Bama should win their last 3 comfortably, and cruise into Atlanta relatively unchallenged. That being said, don't expect MSU or Auburn to be 36-0 shutouts like last year. We haven't been scoring points very well of late, mainly due to rock-solid defenses we've played.

We should do more thant we've shown in the past 5 weeks against MSU and Auburn, but don't count on routs. I'm leaving out UT-Chattanooga because, well.....come on....

I think the flow of this game will be a lot like the Kentucky game: Bama looks a little flat the first quarter and a half, hits a few big plays, and blows it open in the third quarter.

Alabama vs. Mississippi State...

Missing the boat here—completely.

I've lived in Alabama more than 75% of my life. Where I am right now has nothing to do with it.

It's possible, that growing up in Huntsville may have had a little to do with it. Possible. But even when I lived in Tuscaloosa and the surrounding area it was always UT in my book.

Love beating UT. Hate losing to Auburn. But, by far, the rivalry is UT. Always has been with me.

It's interesting you mention the divisional split. When we've made it to the SECCG, the Auburn game has had nothing to do with our representing the West. Their probation kept them out of having an impact in the first few years, their losses did the same in the other years.

The Tennessee game can be lost and you still control your own destiny (cant help but to give a shout out to Mike Price here) The same can be said of Tennessee on the flip. The SEC division spilit took away alot of the significance of the Bama/Tenn rivalry in that regard. Its just not as important in the SEC race as it used to be.

When did you move from Alabama? and yes Huntsville would be as much Tenn territory (if not moreso) than AUB.

Last year in Bama was Shula's second season.

We are looking at this differently. You are talking about significance on an SECW spot in SECCG.

I'm talking football rivalry.

Sure, it's a split group. Some say Auburn, some say UT. With me, it always has and always will be the biggest game of the year.
