🏈 Is UAB Dropping Football Program?

They don't need to drop the football program but they should move out of D1 IMO.

A friend of mine is a uab guy (Boise State guy as well...). He posted this pic while at the uab game today:

I asked him if he had a hard time finding a seat. He said he actually found a recliner.

UAB is having its nest year since what, '04? And this is the fan support. Yep, staying in D1 is a great plan for uab.

I live in a town of about 15k, I swear we have more people at our high school game (prior to the band parents leaving in the 3rd)

I watch the game on TV, not one time did they showed the crowd in the stand.

Honestly, I think they should drop down to the FCS level with Jacksonville State. If you can't consistently put 30,000 asses in the bleachers, you shouldn't be playing with the big boys!

I am really skeptical of the attendance figures that they give out. they claim an average of 22,000. maybe it is 22,000 tickets given away. No way they are putting that many bodies in the seats. I would advise them, if they keep football, to go to the D-3 level -non scholarship. If it weren't for a heavy subsidy by the city they would be drowning in red ink.
