Exactly! But I have never referred to any of those as anything but the Alabama-Auburn, Texas-Oklahoma, and Georgia-Florida games.

The battle for Paul Bunyons Axe is prob my fav trophy FWIW. I love the team running to the others sideline to retrieve it and then fake chopping down the goal post with it! :td:


The Stanley Cup is by far the best pro trophy

I love the names.

BYU-Utah is the Holy War. It's mostly a misnomer (because the majority of Utah's fan base shares the LDS faith of BYU), but I think it's great.

Other names I love: Bedlam (OU-Ok St), Civil War (Oregon-Oregon St), and Good Ole-Fashioned Hate (UGA-GTech).

Kansas vs. Mizzou - The Border War.
Minnesota vs. Michigan - The Little Brown Jug. It`s odd how the schedule in the Big Ten fell this year where these two don`t play each other.

I don't have any problem with the names. There is only one that I ignore though, and that's the Stanley Cup. But even then it's only because I'm not a hockey fan.
The main purpose behind all these locally celebrated bowls, 252, is THE PRIZE. One team has to have something to brag about for the next year, and some inanimate object serves as a victorious reminder is as good as any.
