Bama News

With all of the news surrounding the Tennessee Volunteers football program, numerous players have decided to enter the transfer portal. One player is former four-star linebacker Henry To’o To’o, who chose Tennessee over Alabama during his final recruitment.

To’o To’o was a member of the 2019 signing class and has been an impact player for Tennessee. In his two seasons with the program, he has recorded 140 tackles, 1.5 sacks, one interception, four pass deflections, a fumble recovery and a defensive touchdown.

Now, as he is in the transfer portal, Alabama could be the preferred landing spot for the linebacker.

Hank South of 247Sports reports that Henry’s father, Lese To’o To’o, has high praise for the Crimson Tide, Nick Saban and Alabama defensive coordinator Pete Golding.

ā€œAll the other SEC schools reached out to him, too,ā€ says Lese. ā€œBut one thing that we talked about was that we chose Tennessee the first time when we should have came to Alabama, so let’s not make this mistake twice.ā€

Roll Tide Wire will continue to post updates as more information regarding To’o To’o’s transfer process.

I haven't read the article although I did get a note recapping what South is reporting.

In case you didn't follow To'o To'o's recruitment it was a lot like what we saw with Tua; his father making the decision on where he would attend. In the interview with 247 his father, in so many words, admitted they'd made a mistake in his recruiting and it wouldn't happen again IF he has a chance to transfer and compete.

He went on to say they'd been in contact with a lot of SEC coaching staffs and Saban in particular. Coach Saban told him the best move was to wait until April (NCAA vote on the one time transfer rule.) IF the rule is passed, as expected, oh boy! If the rule isn't passed Saban told his father Henry should stay at UT because of his projected draft status for '22's NFL draft.

i hope it doesnt pass..... would love to have To.to.to but dont like poaching.....
He committed to TN...needs to stay....
But thats not "the new" thinking....thats the "old" thinks

If a player commits......should stay and play...but
From my perspective it's the "but" we can't ignore.

Since we're talking about UT here let's take it a step farther. Assuming post-season penalties are on the horizon do you think a player should be held to their commitment if the staff that signed them falls under NCAA penalty?

I'm taking this to an extreme here but let's change schools and use LSU as an example. Considering what's happening there if a player doesn't want to be a part of that culture, should they have the ability to leave?

Sadly, I don't believe there's a line to be drawn to make this "black and white." There are far too many gray areas we see these kids deal with. In my opinion, Penn State was a "black and white" story: those kids should have been allowed to transfer and play immediately. But those are few and far between.

They can leave....anytime...period
There is a"sit out " one year penalty....but that can be waived.....
And if there are a level of sanctions....there is no "sit out" penalty applied
Those players are free to go....
You know this...

Yes, and those scenarios were in response to this ...
If a player commits......should stay and play
....all of these current stipulations/scenarios have led to a lot of "gray answers." We still don't know why Q had to sit when we saw 90%+ of all the other transfers be allowed to play immediately.

I'd rather see the "one time transfer" rule than see guys treated like Q.

Ed Zackery.....if you can't be fair then just stop the process and make everybody sit for one. They should have never attempted to have exceptions to the rule.

Spring drills should be real competitive for most positions but ILB and QB are the most interesting spots from my couch.
Unless we see an injury, the QB position is settled. Going into spring the interior linebackers are as well; Moody and Harris. To me there's not a lot of questions about how that shakes out. I believe we'll see them leave spring camp with the same guys.

I always thought it was strange how we thought we had him and then he just pulled a 180 on signing day. Would be nice to have some experience, and productive experience at that. We wanted him initially, so I can only imagine we would want him again after he's proven he can play.
