🏈 Is Alabama Football Destined for Mediocrity?

It Takes Eleven

Let's face it folks, Coach Saban may only be around for another three to six years. Perhaps we get a few, maybe three, more championships before he leaves.

After that, history tells us that we will drift back into another dark period where we may not win even ONE out of every four national championships, much less three.

I'm beating the rush, and I'll commence fretting about our imminent decline now.

RTR,

Tim

No! The program will always have success. Probably not to the level that they have had as of recent. In the 90's the Tide was competitive but only managed 2 SEC titles and 1 SEC title. The times we are seeing now are rare. Enjoy them.

I've had the same thoughts, although I just try to enjoy the moment. It's kind of funny, when Shula was here I was really interested in recruiting and always seemed to be looking towards the future at what we COULD have. Nowadays, I keep up with recruiting a whole lot less (atleast during the season) and just enjoy the success that we're having in the present.

I hate to seem like I'm celebrating LSU's success, but it really is impressive the run that they've had. I gotta say, Les has done a pretty damn good job of keeping that train rolling.

Good thing is, we should have a few more advantages the next time a coaching search comes around. I don't see us having a run like we've had with Saban for a long, long time, but if we can land a coach that fits our university's personality then the program will be successful.

Good discussion. Although you can tell it's the offseason!

It's already started. Saban has been recruiting quitters who are ready to transfer on a whim.

What a negative topic... I thought the policy on this site was; if you can't say something positive then don't say anything at all.

Or is does that rule only apply to new members?

I believe if had posted a negative post like this I would have be shouted down by the mob :no-no:

Ah, there's that beloved hypocrisy we all know and love.

To answer your question, no, I live in Birmingham with my fiance. Not surprised in your massive amount of brilliance that you have yet to pick up on that fact despite even posting recently in the thread where that fact is discussed. Nice try, captain classless.

Long before I was awarded moderating abilities by the gracious people who operate this site out of their pocket, with no monetary value in return, I was attracted to this site because it had this fantastic new approach to moderating a fan forum. You see, they had a revolutionary idea of letting the members police the forum, instead of appointing gestapo moderators to only allow one line of thought. Which means, if your argument is stupid, you get called on it. It wasn't a policy against new members, young members or old members. It applied to everyone. Through the years, people have came and left. But one thing remains the same. There is always some dumbass, who likes to make dumbass arguments, using dumbass rationale, and that person generally likes to drag the dumbass arguments out as long as possible. And like clockwork, that member always complains when he/she is called on his/her dumbassery.

Make no mistake, I was doing this long before I was awarded moderating powers. And I'll be doing it until the owners of this forum ask me to leave. So buckle up, Lou, you're going to have a rough ride.

What?! You're living with your fiance out of wedlock? You kids nowadays have no morals. Next, you'll be quitting your job when you find something more appealing to your personal goals.

Don't blame me! My generational-specific hormones and genes made me do it!

Don't worry, I don't. I blame the generation of free loading baby boomers who are responsible for running this country in the ground.

Nice post, Argo. I know most of the staff and met most of them at one point or another (the thread starter, Tim, included). Most of us have been talking Alabama football for close to 15 years now. Half the time when I post, I am not even worried about having to be a moderator here. Most people get it. Birdman37 is a prime example of someone who has become a valued member of this site after a little bumpy start. Someone apparently said something to "oldschool" and he is still lashing out about it whenever he can. I bet if he was standing among the group of us, he would keep his attitude in better check. If he doesn't like it here, there are plenty of places to go or go back to.

Well, now you have me worried Argo...

8 or 9 low class cyber bullies out of a hundred or so members who think they run everything doesn't bother me in the least. So before you go patting yourself on the back for insulting me and threatening to harass me until I leave you might want to ask yourself a question; Is this really what everyone involved with this site wants you to do?

A forum is supposed to be everyone expressing their opinion even if it does not agree with your opinion. It is not supposed to be 8 or 9 guys controlling the forum and everyone else being forced to say Amen or face the wrath of the little group who thinks they should control the content and tone of every topic that comes up.

Trust me, your little threats only make you look childish and make me more determined...
