Ah, I forgot about this .. Teehee.

On Thursday, the name ā€œLennay Kekuaā€ popped back up on the internet as college football fans snickered at the fact it had been exactly one year since former Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o's fake girlfriend supposedly died from ā€œcomplications due to leukemiaā€ on Sept. 12, 2012.

As you remember, Te’o had a ā€œheroicā€ performance against Michigan State just a couple days later, with 12 tackles in a 20-3 victory in East Lansing that sparked the Irish’s undefeated regular season. It was in January that Deadspin revealed that Kekua was, in fact, a giant hoax and, well, you know the rest.

The Twittersphere certainly hasn’t forget, as many honored the one-year anniversary with snarky tweets like this:

One year ago today, Lennay Kekua died, before she even had a chance to live. #neverforget

We hope Te’o, now with the San Diego Chargers, had time to do the same.
