Sherman's job is in the air, guess that is what happens when you go 25-25 in 4 years and 15-18 in the Big-XII, while losing 5 of 6 in the 2nd half (I know how bad I felt last year after losing to Auburn, I could imagine experiencing this all season long)

Mack Brown supposedly retiring...
"According to a source Texas Longhorn head coach Mack Brown will retire this Sat after the game against Baylor

Lot of big jobs available this year...

No surprise about Sherman. The Aggies have had it tough with their last two hires. R.C. probably seems like Bear Brant to them in retrospect.

I've got a call in for my Longhorn buddy on the Mack Brown story.

Brown having back to back bad years, unacceptable - 5-7 last year, 7-4 this year (losing all the games he gets paid way too much money to win - OU, OSU, Mizzou, and Kansas State), they will probably get beat by Baylor Saturday.

The games they lost, they weren't even close.

some suggest he can't coach and he isn't a very good recruiter either.

Kirby may get interviews at both places. If your a school coming into the sec for the first time who better to hire than the best assistant coach in the SEC from a successful program. Teaching the Aggies how to play SEC style defense.

Plano, I know your out there in Texas and a lot closer to the situation, but I don't think Brown has forgot how to coach. He did have a several 10 win seasons at UNC and that is what got him to Texas.

I said all that to say this, Mack has been at UT for 13 years. He is at that ceiling where he has lost his edge. Phillip Fulmer is a prime example. He overstayed his welcome at Tennessee and couldn't re-capture his mojo. Does that mean he or his assistants have forgot how to coach? I think that John Chavis can answer that for us. We gashed his defense to pieces the last time we faced him at UT, but are 2-2 against him at LSU.

As far as recruiting, I think Brown has the luxury of being in Texas and you don't have to be all that good to get great talent there. Being able to develop it is another question and that all goes back to his lack of drive. I honestly think Dr. Evil has stole his mojo and that is why he needs to retire.

Kirby might get an interview at A&M but he won't be a serious candidate at Texas. I doubt either of them would hire a first time coach anyway.

He had three 10 win seasons in Chapel Hill. His last season he finished the year 11-1. HOWEVER, only one of those 12 teams had more than 7 wins that season. 10-2 the year before and their best win was against a nine win 'Cuse team. Syracuse.

I wasn't impressed with him at UNC and I haven't been that impressed with him at UT.

Think about it. He's one player away from having ZERO NC's.

FWIW, we're 0-2 against Chavis at LSU. He's only been there two years. That said, we've moved the ball against his defenses as well as, if not better than, any other team in the country the last two years combined.

TP I was thinking that Chavis was hired right after Fulmer got the axe at UT. Went back and looked it up and he was not hired at LSU until late 2008. So we have actually beat him once in 09. Either way you get what I was saying in the sense of, his rejuvination and being able to coach. He went from sucking hind tit, to being the greatest thing since sliced bread by taking that ugly orange hat off and wearing some one elses attire.

Here is what my Longhorn buddy sent me re Mack.

"Apparently the rumor on Mack is true..he’s tired and under extreme pressure from the Texas powers to quickly resurrect the program. The big money people want the Longhorn Network to quickly become a success and the football program is hurting that right now. Mack thought he was untouchable, but last year proved him wrong. He doesn’t have a proven QB for a quick improvement and probably won’t for a couple of years..problem is, he doesn’t have that long. If either Harsin or Diaz leaves to coach elsewhere, Mack will retire as that will set him back further on the rebuilding. He doesn’t want to do 2010 all over—especially without a QB."<o:p></o:p>

Alot of big programs looking for coaches this year. I'm trying to remember a time when this many top tier programs were looking (I'm not saying all of these are top tier, but there are a few that are questionable).

We will lose a few coaches this year...bank on that.
