@50+yeartidefan as a stat guy, and as one who bets on games frequently, this IS a numbers game. That's not random.

This year is different.

I'm betting Hinkle gives Bama a shot advantage because of the very layout you complain about...which is about to be changed.

I do not think this is random either but in a fairness to 50+, the Saban's of the world have the formula to bust these type of events. Lets hope Oats has the players and team to do it also. I know nothing about Iona but I do know, like him or not, Pitino can coach and in a one game event Bama needs to be ready.

"Root causes" could be ...... but each of those is based on individual teams more than just random numbers..

I would say....matchups is more the reason for @252BAMA stats more than any othe... and matchups are random....

a #7 team...from a power bball conference maybe 19-8....but record is based on such atough conference....and may matchup well with a #2...

Look at how a#8 lsu took #2 bama to end ... the unbelievable play of their guard...
Matchups....and the outstanding play of an individual player..

Maybe the quota was reached for the tournament. Actually it probably would not matter but this should be a positive for Bama to make sure they do not come out with low energy. It has to at least make them think....

That is what I meant by hopefully the quota was met. That is around 6%. So likely hood is low but "shit happens" as you say. As long as it is someone else other than Bama it works for me.
