Spring recap: With Cody, McClain and Arenas leading a stacked defense, the Crimson Tide probably won't have to score many points. That should allow McElroy, who will play behind an inexperienced line, some room for error. But should McElroy have trouble, he need only remember one thing: Throw it to Jones.

There are a few surprises in there to me to where certain teams landed in this top 25, but then again it's way too early.

Though it is nice to see us in the top 10, this list is crazy. Ole Miss is getting mad props from last year. Nutt has never done what is expected. If he is projected to have a good year he disappoints big time. If he is projected to have a bad year he has a great year. Our defense should be able to take over many games. If our running game is anything like last year they we will be in Atlanta again come DEC. VTECH seems to be getting all the hype because of thier defense. Are they that much better than us? No. They have a unproven QB, as we do. They have a good defense, as we do. OKLAHOMA ST, WTF!!!!!!!!!!! They play in a conference where defense, well...it doesn't exsist! Comeon season, I can't wait.

The season opener for Okie St. is Georgia this year. If they can get out of that one with a win, you'll see the Texas Tech love fest of the last few years focused solely on Stillwater.

They've got some offensive playmakers.

You are so right about OSU. UGA is the one he should be complaining about. I have them 0-4 when LSU goes to Athens, and 0-5 when they leave.

You know, I dont really consider Ole Miss a bitter rival, but they are being set up for an epic course in failure like Clemson was last year.

I tend to agree; almost like an Auburn '03 was it? The thing that Ole Miss will have working against them this year is that target on their back. Let 'em see how it feels for once. It's hard to sneak up on anyone (ala Florida) with that.

OK?!?! :headscratch:

I'd hate to be you when the games are played.

They have as good of a chance to be undefeated after LSU as they do being a 1 loss team.

South Carolina, Arkansas and Arizona State are as good as "rent a wins" versus non-BCS teams.

Okie State will be facing a defense which is something they really didn't do last year with the lone exception of maybe, MAYBE, Oregon in the bowl game.

You are high on them. I am low. We are probably both wrong. Will probably fall somewhere in the middle. The reason I am low is I see the 2009 UGA team being a lot like the 2000 Bama team. And I bet you and I both were high on that one. I see them looking around for Stafford and Mareno when things get tough, just as Bama did for Alexander and Samuels in 2000. Sorry, but they are gone.

You'd be wrong on my expectations for 2000. I was in Tuscaloosa and hanging out around the football complex quite a bit that summer and knew what I was seeing wouldn't translate to on the field success.

I remember the ease Georgia made with their transition to DJ Shockley and see the same thing happening with Joe Cox. In fact, a lot of the same attributes we credit McElroy with can be used with Cox as well.

A lot like I said all year here last season, I wasn't impressed with Moreno that much last year. A spin move is about all I saw of him avoiding contact and some over-hyped hurdles.

Given the choice, and I do like a power running back more than one who jukes around, I'd take Caleb King over Moreno. While Moreno's speed was a value, that kid Thomas has had a great spring. It looks to be a RB by committee in Athens.

Last, but not least, a betting man isn't going to bet against Richt on the road and have a lot of success.

When I think of Big 12 teams not named Texas or Oklahoma, my mind keeps going back to the Ole Miss/Texas Tech bowl game. Defense does matter among the big boys, and the Cowboys, even as good as Dezz Bryant is, just don't play D.
