I keep waiting for CNS, during that "on the way to the locker room for halftime" interview to ask the reporter to relay to Vern and Gary that its not McCain and not Jew-lio.
I will admit, last year I tried to get in touch with Verne to inform him that he should at least pronounce players names correctly. Regretfully I have had the damnedest time finding out how to contact him.
Probably a good thing as the last thing he needs is a Bama fan telling him how to pronounce or spell for that matter :lance:

For years Verne was the voice of the Cowboys, much like Eli is the voice of the Tide.
Sooo..Factor is stating that you would think that if that is your #1 gig and that is the team you followed consistently that you would know their names and how to pronounce them. Apparently Verne would rather study the label of a bourbon bottle as opposed to learning the Cowboys players names correctly......so what makes us think he would put forth the effort to pronounce an SEC players name that he will only announce 3 or 4 times a year.
I figure he was speaking to his radio stuff with the cowboys, but I can't recall hearing him. of course, I didn't grow up in a Cowboys fan family either - it was Da Bears...
funny, I've always called him laVerne as a joke...only to just realize a few minutes ago, it's really his middle name...
I'm thanking my parents for giving me a name that is respectable right now. - "Merton Laverne", that is what they came up with seriously.
