🏈 I'm curious about your opinion on Arkansas coaches: Since it's game week, which one of their coache

In the football circle of friends I have I've asked a lot the same question. This group has a variety of age groups so I've heard answers dating back to when Frank Broyles was coach. Some old enough to say Ken Hatfield was a good coach and still remember enough about Alabama football to add "though we never played Arkansas under Hatfield."

With me, it's Houston. I can remember a number of years where I heard reports of Nutt working on things for our game long before game week.
I realize we're talking about the DuBose years, two with fRan, and then Shula's tenure with Nutt. I realize those were down years due to a variety of other reasons. Yet, when it came to this game with Nutt...it was a game I always looked at skeptically.

I respected Danny Ford but there wasn't that great degree of "game anxiety" as a fan. Crowe, Hatfield, Holtz...just sections of their history.

So, based on you guys and your experiences...what say you?

Even tho Arkansas always had a potent offense with Petrino I was never worried about them. I knew that defense was gonna knock Wilson/Mallett around and make his day a living hell. Nutt always came off goofy as hell to me but when he had that three headed monster of DMC, Hillis, and Jones.. YIKES.

I agree with the right reverend Nutt. He always seemed to have his team up and they played us tough. BB has them going in the right direction and we certainly can't look past them. We can't start slow or turn the ball over in the red zone.

It was always Nutt, and for a few reasons, though. Typically they're our first SEC opponent. But primarily: Matt Jones, Darren McFadden, Felix Jones.

Nutt made me nervous, at times. We ended up going 5-5 against him while he was at Arkansas. Of course, he got the benefit of facing Dubose, Fran, and Shula and only had to face Saban one time. Arkansas' last win over us was a lifetime ago, in 2006. Since that time, the most they can say is that they came close to beating us twice. 2007 and 2010. Other than those two games, we have won convincingly against them every time since Saban has been the HC. Also, on a side note, this week will mark our first ever October game against the Hogs.

Outside of two bowl games we've played Arkansas in September every time we've played them. 21 of 23 times I believe?

If I'm not mistaken it's either their last two wins or two of their last three where it's taken overtime for Arkansas to win the games. Damn, I'm going to have to look this up now...was in 2003 or 2004 we went to OT the first time with the 'Backs? It had to be 2003, right? We had already started our run with injuries in 2004 when we met the 'Backs, right?

We went to overtime against Arkansas in 2003 in Tuscaloosa. They won it 34-31 in 3 OTs. We went to OT with them again in 2006 in Fayetteville, and they won 24-23, due to us missing an extra point when we scored on our overtime possession.
