šŸˆ I'll say it... Saban's last year

No... I have no info, proof, facts, etc.... Just an educated guess. Here's why:

1. The Grind - burning the candle at both ends. Especially with the coaching turnover...

2. The expectations. We are all whacked our of our minds

3. L.A.T. - Life, after, Tua. Think about this - He just had a QB who threw for 41 TD's and 6 INT's. AT ALABAMA. And got routed in the championship game. The game has moved into an era where defense is so damn hard. I cannot imagine him being excited about losing this phenom QB and having to take on the world with a green horn. No offense to our 2 incoming QB's, including Tua's bro, but I don't see special. The 2 QB's in that championship game are freakish.

4. And most importantly - Wants to go out a Champion. You heard it here first... RMFTR!

Is it fair to say why I disagree?

1. Saban has no problem with "the grind". The man invented "the grind".

2. The only expectation that has ever mattered to him is his own. BAMA fans have been "whacked" since the day he landed in Tuscaloosa.

3. He never had a QB like Tua before and won a National Championship with Jake Coker. I think the loss probably stoked his fire to win even more.

4. Who doesn't? He believes his process and never believes his last national championship will be his last unless he says so.

I say he coaches 3-5 more years and like you, I have no proof.

@Tidestalker , you make some compelling arguments, but one thing I think is different about CNS is the fact that he loves the grind, he loves the challenge.

When you best him at something, he wants to know how you did it and try and challenge you again to make sure that doesn't happen again. After OSU beat us in the play-off, post season, the first thing he does is fly Tom Herman to campus and pick his brain and break down film on what he saw and how he attacked us.

Hugh Freeze bested us 2 years in a row. As soon as CNS had the opportunity, he tried to hire Freeze. While it may be a slight chance, I think he may have or is still looking into hiring him away from Liberty. I think that will be up to Byrne and the SEC offices.....but that is all hear-say and scuttlebutt.

Cole Cublic had an interesting thought as well. He talked about how Michael Jordan was nearing retirement when Kobe Bryant came into the league. Jordan hung around a little while longer and let it be known he still had it, and was still awesome. A yin-yang scenario, or how about a Dr. Evil and Austin Powers. He likened that relationship to Saban and Kirby. Saban is not quite ready to let the "new crowned Prince" of SEC take his rein just yet. Saban likes the grind/challenge and it is something to elevate his game and make him dig/work/grind to maintain.

I wanted to say something since the Clemson game, but it would have been classified as me thinking the world is collapsing, bla bla bla. I am in agreement with you that the end is near. Maybe it was just my rememberance of the game, but I saw zero fire in him during the Championship game. He looked helpless and almost like he didn't care, even after the pick six to start the game. I didn't see him after Wills got that false start called, but I do remember the look when it happened against Oklahoma and the attitude was just not there against Clemson. Something doesn't feel right to me, and maybe this is just a clensing like after McCarron's last season when he said a lot of the younger guys hadn't bought in, and maybe that's why some guys are leaving early that probably shouldn't have. I don't know and truly don't care to get into a two weeks conversation about it, but I feel like he has a couple years left. This new class is amazing, so I think he will wait to go out on top, he wants more Natty's than Bear, so I think he'll go until then, if he can.

Maybe....there were internal problems... @BamaFan334 .... i dont know....
But i didnt see the D backfield communicating like usual....
lots of studs lots of egos...
Or maybe our Oline got their asses wiped inside red zone...otherwise....we left 3 scores on the field.... and o coordinator leaving....and he was more Maryland then alabama ..... understandable.... and obvious now several assistants were leaving and maybe not happy...
I cant see nick leaving... @Tidestalker .... got unbelievable recruiting class coming in.... not an old man ( when you get the old you will understand that statement).... healthy...ego driven ( sitting on dock catching blue gills aint nick).... as long as health holds up.....he will go til mid 70s... he wont go on loss...
For sure....
This bama club is built for 10 more years of dominating..... he will get his 20 in at Bama

Can have the best class ever, but in 2021 if you don't have a STUD QB - Can you win a championship?

Couldn't win 1 with a stud QB in 2019. The grind of coaching changes, player egos, media bull shit is even more wearing when 2nd place is a disappointment. Which is where Alabama football is at!

ā€œIt’s awfully important to win with humility. It’s also important to lose. I hate to lose worse than anyone, but if you never lose you won’t know how to act. If you lose with humility, then you can come back.ā€ Coach Bryant

If CNS was mortal, I might agree with you. However, he thrives on the challenge. He likes to work with players to make them better. You may see some changes in his approach, with both coaches and players, but he's not ready to leave.

That being said, I don't see him coaching in his 70s. He's already made enough money to live comfortably for the rest of his life. When he leaves coaching, he will easily go in front of the camera (not a color guy, but a studio analysis) he if wants to.

JMO but the loss of Jeremy Pruitt has been the biggest loss of any of Nick's assistant coaches. Kirby was good (better recruiter thna coach) but JP was really good at both. Media continue to say Nick can't continue to allow assistant coaches to move on.....Hell our staff are going on to promotions to OC's or HC's and they double or triple their salary thus there is nothing Bama can do to retain them. All that BS about Dabo keeping his staff means NObody has offered his OC a HC position or any of his assistants a OC/DC spot because if they did they would double their paycheck and leave. His DC is the only guy getting looks as a HC and then not anybody in the SEC is beating his door down.

Nick had to bump Tosh to DC to keep Kirby from taking him and that move kind of backfired on Nick since it appears Tosh is in seat too big for him. So how does he Nick resolve his problem? Kirby has yet to hire a DC and it's possible that after NSD Tosh could move to UGA as a token DC (Kirby is his own DC) with a raise and without the demotion on his report card. These next 3-4 weeks could get even more interesting.

Dang @Tidestalker ....worrying about 21.... thats a good thing....lol
And these 2 QBs coming in...look pretty good to me.... need a good QB coach for sure...and nick will get one...best available...every ...almost...coach wants the "i learned from Nick Saban." On his resume....

And....we didnt win in 2019....clemson won...we blew more coverages then i have ever seen...we moved ball up and down field... we turned ball over..they did not...
Hopefully....2020..we go into nc game without any primary coaches leaving...
And yes...runner up is disappointing....but history will be kind...it was a great team..
Aswas 2016...1974...1966...2014...
I prefer the grind of being ontop....than the being there because of some "miracle "

You really believe he would be happy...not being "the man" and being a talking head.....like all the others....just one of the others... people actually disagreeing with him....
I cant see that...and money sure isnt his motivational reward....
He is close enough to 70s... and Captain of the ship.... from current experience...70s is pretty easy.... staying healthy and interested and motivated is the question....while some think it wears onhim to experience the coach and player losses...i think he is kinda man that thrives on challenges....
time will tell...but its been a great 12 years..no matter what

I will say that he goes 3-5 more years and then calls it a career. I also think he takes 1-2 more Natty's with him as well. Is the challenge 1 more to simply break Coach Bryant's record or is it 2 more to break Coach Bryant's record at BAMA?

I said he could, not that he wants to. We've seen CNS called into the booth when Alabama isn't there. He does a good job. He calls it as he sees it, without attacking anyone. IMO, when he's done, he'll be done.

JMO I can't see him leaving unless he wins an NC next year. I can't see him leaving with that ass whipping he just took being his last look in an NC game. And make no mistake Clemson whipped Alabama's ass. I've seen "coach x didn't do their job" "players looked entitled" etc ad nauseam. He/they/we got a wood shed butt whipping. Team game, team got beat. I think CNS works overtime even for himself between now and '19 kickoff to remedy that. JMO

That's why I say - He's leaving after his championship next season
