Another Big 10 fan trying to write about the SEC.

Does this guy even know how to read a practice report or watch a game last season?? McElroy has been the obvious starter since the 2nd spring scrimmage. Jones spent much of the second half double teamed. Even if he wasn't, how can they put an extra person against the running game, and have an extra person on Jones?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Biggest Bust
Julio Jones, WR, Alabama: Jones was
much like Georgia's Green in '08. He came to
Alabama as one of the nation's top recruits
and was expected to pay immediate
dividends. The 6-4, 210-pound receiver did
just that. He led Alabama with 58 catches for
924 yards and four touchdowns. It only
seems as though Jones is going to get better,
but we have some concerns heading into '09.
Alabama has to break in a new quarterback
after the graduation of John Parker Wilson.
It's expected to be Greg McElroy, but Saban
might opt to go with redshirt freshman Star
Jackson or true freshman A.J. McCarron.
Regardless, experience is going to be a
major concern. Therefore, Saban might opt to
lean a bit more on the running game until his
new quarterback settles in. While Jones will
still be the feature receiver at Alabama, the
opposition knows that as well. They could
easily double team the lanky Jones until
another receiving threat emerges. It seems
as though Jones is going to have to earn his
numbers in the fall.

Very sad. A reporter writing a story without any research or least some insight from someone who knows the S.E.C
Saban might opt to go with Star?
Julio will have to earn his yards this year? :headscratch: Did this guy see any film on Bama from last year? obviously he did not watch any games.

He looks as Stupid as I would if I wrote a article on Washington State football. I wonder if any of his co-workers or fellow reporters brought this to his attention after reading the article.

The LANKY Jones. I'm not sure all of the defensive backs that Jones has drug across the field would agree that Jones is lanky.

Coincidentally, a good friend of mine I was speaking to the other day mentioned his son attending UA and routinely runs into Julio between classes. Said he saw Julio the other day as they were walking on campus and mentioned that, not only does he have to look straight up at the guy because he's so tall, he says that you wouldn't believe the pipes on this guy. He said that he had no idea based on what he saw on t.v. when watching the from last season, but said that the staff obviously has Julio on some serious weight training regimen.

I don't want to use the standard cliches like "monster" or "animal", but this guy said that Julio is just a man, and is a lot bigger than people think.

Coach Cochran is great. I hope we keep him around. He has motivated the players and got the entire team on the same note. One of the best conditioning coaches in college football.

OP, where's the link at? I would like to see what else he has to say.

Julio is going to be a top 5 draft pick. Barring injury, he'll go down as the best receiver to ever play at Alabama. Better than Newsome, better than Don Hudson. This guy is a genetic freak and has the determination, attitude and work ethic to make it happen.

My 8 year old son and I stood alongside Julio at Fan Day and I didn't see anything that might lead me to believe that lanky would be used to describe him. Ripped, cut, beast, animal, genetic freak, etc. those were the terms i might use to describe Julio. This guy obviously tried to envision 210 lbs on a 6-4 frame and thought that would be a good term. Julio looks like he has added about 10-15 lbs to his frame. Julio would make a HELLUVA Jack LB or a true OLB.

What rock has this guy been under??? I have no clue where he gets LANKY for Julio. I guess he hasn't seen the video or highlights of him dragging 6+ LSU Tigers with him and the pics of the LSU defender hanging onto Julio to keep him out of the endzone in OT and other highlights all year.

After investigating the link, this is not exactly what it appears to be.

This is a clueless, CBS schmuck who is writing a fantasy draft column back in June.

1st clue...CBS sportsline

2nd clue...It's a fantasy football draft report

3rd clue...He describes A.J. Green as having the physical tools to succeed, but then describes Julio as lanky. He mentions Alabama's need to have QB play after JPW leaves, but feels that Joe Cox won't be much of a drop off for UGA after Stafford.

You're right. This guy better stop bogarting that bomber and pass it around.
