🏈 If this ends up being true it's a stupid move by the SEC. Brett McMurphy saying SECMD to Dallas?

I saw it mentioned here that the SECMD were going back to Hoover next season so that isn't news. McMurphy is claiming his sources are telling him that Dallas is a possibility for 2020.

This makes zero sense to me. The SEC having their media days in a Big 12 city? It's outside of the SEC footprint for gods sake!

by that reckoning, atlanta is outside of the sec footprint, as well. so is hoover, for that matter. none of the cities it's been in, in the past few years have been a city with a team from the sec.

hoover? nope
atlanta? nope
dallas (possibly)? nope

BUT...

hoover is in alabama...so is alabama and auburn
atlanta is in georgia...so is uga
dallas is in texas...so is aTm

i think they're picking cities with the largest concentration of people/fans. and one more thing...georgia tech is in atlanta. so atlanta is acc country.

not actively trying to be an ass....just stating some facts.

What Big12 school is in Dallas? TCU is in Ft. Worth. SMU is in Dallas, but SMU is in American Athletic Conference. It's inside the SEC footprint (Texas A&M is in Texas).

Saying that Dallas is an option means exactly that, it's an option. Starkville is an option as well.

That wouldn't bother me but I never attend the SECMD. But if I did, there's worst places than Dallas to visit.

i've been to several when they were in hoover. the only issue there is the lobby of the hotel it's held in, is really small for how many people show up. i know they don't do it for the fans...it's strictly for media. but if they don't want crowding issues, then they need to either tell people NOT to come to it (or just not allow them inside, period), or hold it somewhere that's more open with more room.

If we go by that logic we'd have to also say Greenville, SC is in the SEC footprint. That's ACC territory. The media days in Dallas is taking the SEC's event and putting in a city that's Big 12 country. Houston would make more sense and it's still on the outskirts of SEC country. Birmingham, Atlanta, Nashville...hell, New Orleans is a bit outside of a centralized location but it still makes a lot more sense than Dallas.

If it's a monetary thing with the SEC Sankey just needs to come out and say so. If it's truly a SEC event, Dallas has no place. Look at the SEC history. How often are you going to find the city Dallas as one of its destinations? Only recently, and that's because it's been a draw for Jerry's world.

It makes as much sense to me as the ACCCG being playing in Florida and ticket sales alone demonstrated that was a bad idea.
